I had included Palestinian Canadian artist Nemahsis' 2024 album Verbathim on my AOTY last year and not only was the album nominated for the Junos (Canada's Grammys), but Nemahsis performed at the event AND won 2 awards, for alternative album of the year and breakout artist of the year! Pretty frickin cool especially since she had to self-release the album after being dropped by her label for being pro-Palestine.

I'm not an awards show guy but #nemahsis winning a #juno is pretty awesome.

Earlier this year I had seen a music video by Nemahsis, a Palestinian Canadian artist, shared here, but hadn't heard the full album (Verbathim). Happy to be reminded about her via CBC's '15 best Canadian albums of the year' list - this is (edit: REALLY) excellent alt-pop. Not sure how widely available the album is (she was dropped by label, so it's released independently), it's on Canadian Apple Music but not Bandcamp (or Songlink).
