I was about to say 'this book could have been a blog post', but perhaps it's fairer to say 'this book was not for me'. It came so recommended that I tried switching between the original Danish and the English translation. This only confirmed that it's doubly not for me. On the plus side, the publishers name the translators on the cover. That shouldn't be so rare that you notice it, but alas it is.

Sam Kalda hat auch das Cover für "The Greenest Wind – A Summer in Ireland" entworfen, die Übersetzung meines Longsellers "Eine Tüte grüner Wind". Und auch auf dem Cover ist eine Katze zu sehen. Die heißt auch in der Übersetzung von Rebecca Heier "Frau Schmidt".

@psneeze That is excellent. Fair play to them. It's rarely the big publishers that do this. It always seems to be the small independent presses that pay attention to this detail. The human-sized publishers, giving due credit to their human translators. Even more valuable now in these AI-times.

I idly picked this up yesterday, thinking I’d read a few pages. Before I knew it, I was late for everything and had read half of it. Engrossingly slow-paced and peculiar. And just to make it even better, the translator is credited on the cover. This shouldn’t be so unusual that you notice it. It is lovely to see.

La quête de romans de langue néerlandaise traduits en anglais est un succès. À noter que tous les noms de traducteurs et traductrices figurent soit sur la couverture soit sur la quatrième de couverture, bravo les éditeurs d’anglésie. #NameTheTranslator

❓ Jemand fragt mich heute (auf Türkisch, auf Instagram), ob weitere Bände meiner Kinderkrimis mit Privatdetektivin Billie Pinkernell ins Türkische übersetzt wurden.
Antwort: Leider nein.🙁 Der Verlag Kelebek in Istanbul wurde wohl insolvent, sodass Band 3 "İçi Boş Düğün Partisi " (Die hohle Hochzeitstorte) der letzte türkische Billie-Krimi war.

Currently #translating a museum exhibition, and I just adapted a text to include the English #translation of a book.
I of course considered it my duty to also #NameTheTranslator in my adaptation (even if he has been dead for over a century). 😊

A delight, right down to the final drawing and the final page and the endpapers. It adds to my delight to know that it was Astrid Lindgren who asked Tove Jansson to illustrate the book.
