Rogue Trader: Escape from Nullia is set in the universe of Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40K. It takes its inspiration from the #WH40K #RogueTrader video game from Owlcat Games. Our characters start as nobodies, but they are ambitious seekers of knowledge and authority who will do what they must to survive.

  6. Just finished a campaign, the first of a projected three-part series. Very happy with how it all turned out, even though my PC was completely overwhelmed with strain by the final encounter. We had some nice twists and turns along the way. This was originally a 3-hour module for a convention, but once we combined it with the Mythic GM Emulator, it spun out into a 24-session campaign. Genesys and the Mythic GM Emulator work quite well together!

  7. Thank you for joining us for A Year in Monsoon Jungle, and accompanying us for all the time we’ve spent on Alpha Centauri. This story is well and truly wrapped up now, and the Dicey Stories podcast will be taking a bit of a hiatus. Look for us to return to your feed later this spring with Rogue Trader: Escape from Nullia played using Genesys and the Mythic GM Emulator.

  8. @tabcreations.com The Mythic GM Emulator builds that into the mechanics. You keep a list of NPCs and a list of open threads, and sometimes an interrupt roll will bring back a person or a goal you haven't thought about in a while. I've found it's a useful concept for any RPG.

  9. There's something very nice about being able to say to my wife, "Hey, you want to play another scene or two of our game?" as if our #ttrpg was a boardgame. No need to schedule with additional parties, no need for either of us to prep. We're using the Mythic GM Emulator alongside Genesys, and they're working together great to take us on an adventure with unanticipated twists and turns.

  10. My wife and I have started a WH40K Rogue Trader campaign played using Genesys and the Mythic GM Emulator. We play just one or two scenes at a time and then take a break. This is working out really well for us, since using the GME is a different sort of mental workout from both standard GMing and standard PCing. And since it's just the two of us, we can dip in and out of the campaign whenever we want. It's a nice couple activity.

  11. Game time! Pulling out the #MythicGMEmulator to play some #GMless #Genesys. We're going to try out my wife's #wh40k #RogueTrader one shot with her getting to also be a PC. We'll see how far off the rails the GM emulator takes us compared to when she's run this #ttrpg traditionally.

  12. GM Note for Echoes of Invasion:

Thank you for sticking with us to the end of our Wesnoth campaign! I had a lot of fun scouring #BattleForWesnoth materials to flesh out our stories, so thank you to all the creators who work on the video game. wesnoth.org/

We play with Genesys rules but special thanks also to Tana Pigeon @TanaPigeonWMG for the #MythicGMEmulator. Many a time, the seed for a session came from two words rolled on her subject/action tables. drivethrurpg.com/en/product/20

  13. @irgndsondepp We keep the Mythic subject/action tables on hand to use as idea prompts during our Genesys games. Sometimes you just need a couple words to point you in a direction.

  14. Dicey Stories is on hiatus until the start of February, so no new podcast episode today. If you're looking for a #ttrpg Actual Play to enjoy, consider some of our older campaigns. We played a Starcraft one and a Star Wars one (the latter #GMless using #MythicGMEmulator). These are both written up in serial novel form as well.

  15. GM Note 1 for Echoes of Invasion:

There are no trains in the #BattleForWesnoth video game, at least not any of the campaigns I’ve played. So why do these dwarves have a train? Well, while contemplating this rematch with the dwarves of Untdunben, I rolled on the Mythic GM Emulator’s event meaning tables for inspiration and got Develop and Vehicle. Mining tracks are well-established in the video game, so I decided they weren’t all for carts—some were for trains.

  16. @enfors I did solo play several times to see what was happening to one of the main NPCs in a #SWRPG campaign. For the most part, that system (and its cousin #Genesys ) can handle solo play for an experienced GM, but I supplemented with the #MythicGMEmulator when needed. One of these I even wrote up and shared with my players as a "lost episode".

  17. @danielk Cool to hear you used Mythic with Blades. I had suspected they would work well together, but hadn't tried it myself.

My wife and I have used #MythicGMEmulator to play #GMless with Genesys and SWRPG. It has worked well for just the two of us, but we've never tried it with our larger circle. I'm curious what size groups you've used Mythic with, as I wonder how unwieldy larger groups might be without a GM wrangling them.

    #ttrpg

  18. @auguryignored I think using a #GMEmulator with another #ttrpg could count as such a mashup, as you have to decide which part of play you'll handle with the original system vs the emulator. We've used #MythicGMEmulator with #Genesys.

  19. 20 randomly-generated #ShadowdarkRPG level zero Characters.

Now I just need to figure out how to run a guantles with #MythicGMEmulator.

    #SoloRpg #TTRPG

  20. #Shadowdark is a quick read. I'm not _quite_ done yet, but I already like it enough that I went and bought the zines.

Strongly considering putting my CY_BORG #SoloRPG campaign on ice to try this out.

Anyone have any experience running Shadowdark with #MythicGMEmulator as a solo player? Any gotchas I should look out for? I kinda want to run a gauntlet for myself.. . .

  21. I decided to finally pull the trigger on the #MythicGMEmulator for my #SoloRPG and wife-and-I #TTRPG fun times.

So I googled it, went to DTRPG, and bought it.

Then I found its 2e in the recommendations section.

Is there a significant difference between 1e and 2e? Am I going to notice or care?

  22. @TanaPigeonWMG If an NPC has gotten a name and there's been a solid interaction, we'll put them on the character list. Or if NPCs have talked about some other NPC we haven't met yet who sounds very important, we'll put that one on the character list.

We've also had NPCs graduate from the character list to being a PC with their own scene.

  23. @TanaPigeonWMG We're playing in the setting of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. We're using #Genesys and sometimes pull out #MythicGMEmulator to help with spur-of-the-moment NPC questions.

My PC was in sales back on Earth and stowed away to get to the new planet. He's found that he is strangely well-adapted to the new environment, which is debilitating to most humans. He's trying to understand that and help the rest of humanity similarly adapt.

    #ttrpg

  24. @proflysun My wife and I used #MythicGMEmulator with our #ttrpg of choice, #Genesys. Mythic can be used as its own TTRPG but we are both really comfortable with interpreting Genesys dice, so that's what we went with.

We have an actual play where you can hear it in action, Star Wars: Cruise Control.

  25. @fatcrab I've mainly done my #GMless play using #MythicGMEmulator (with #Genesys of course). The most important features I've benefited from are the tables to provide idea prompts, the tracking of story threads (to help you return to them later), and the interrupts/alterations which divert the story from what you were anticipating. That last one I find crucial because it's what gives you the feeling that there's an invisible GM out there shaking things up.

    #ttrpg

  26. @digitalCalibrator @BeAware To add to that, there are also tools, like #MythicGMEmulator and other oracles that enable you to play in the system of your choice, but #GMless.

  27. @WelshAdventurer My partner and I ran #Genesys with #MythicGMEmulator. We found it best to take turns on who was the PC lead in a scene vs who was more GMing. We make heavy use of the random action/verb table to generate ideas for things.

We recorded/novelized this for one mini-campaign. If you want to take a listen, check out Cruise Control on #DiceyStories (diceystories.com/star-wars-cru)
