  1. We just finished an 18 month #SWRPG game that was a mix of official content and some homebrew.

Players liked the story but didn't like the rules and dice basically the entire time.

In hindsight, it would have been better to take the same story arcs into one of the older #TTRPG options for Star Wars. (Lesson learned, modern may not always be right or better for our table).

  2. GM Note for Echoes of Invasion:

This week's episode uses the chase rules we developed for #SWRPG and #Genesys. If you're interested in taking a look at those, you can find them here:

  3. @stjepanlukac There are so many Star Wars shows coming out these days, but I would love to see some of the #SWRPG modules made into a miniseries. Things like Long Arm of the Hutt or Jewel of Yavin.

  4. @herrold Ask me again in a few more years and I'll say #Genesys Core Rulebook. It hasn't been out for 10 years yet, so it doesn't quite fit your criteria. I've been using parts of the book since I got it in 2017 (when I was running its relative #SWRPG). And since 2019 it's been our main reference, regardless of what genre we feel like playing.

  5. @enfors I did solo play several times to see what was happening to one of the main NPCs in a #SWRPG campaign. For the most part, that system (and its cousin #Genesys ) can handle solo play for an experienced GM, but I supplemented with the #MythicGMEmulator when needed. One of these I even wrote up and shared with my players as a "lost episode".

  10. @bwebster Escape from Mos Shuuta is an introductory adventure for Star Wars Edge of the Empire. I think it makes a good starter game because it introduces gaming mechanics a bit at a time, holding the GM's hand as well as the players'. Getting GMs comfortable running a system is just as important as getting players comfortable. This module is also small enough to fit in one session while also including enough to demonstrate what playing #swrpg #EdgeoftheEmpire is like.

Tric catches up some with Kachen and gets to know the new server at the Parting Glass.

  13. @factolvictor I read both modern #Thrawn trilogies, yes. I even stole a chapter of one to repurpose for the #SWRPG I was running at the time.

I enjoyed the Ascendancy trIlogy more, perhaps because it just felt like a good set of #scifi adventures, rather than yet another #StarWars tale.

So I do recommend reading them. (Caveat: I haven't read any of the old Thrawn novels, so I don't know how they compare.)

  14. @nickdrawthing How the first session starts depends on campaign details established earlier. With #swrpg #eote I started with an opening scroll that led to action underway since the players all knew they were in debt to a Hutt. For our current Alpha Centauri #genesys game, we started with each of the players answering, "You're on the colony ship. What did getting aboard look like for you?" The players already knew that was the setup, and this gave them a chance to get into character.

  15. The endpaper art on the Edge of the Empire books for #ffgsw #swrpg is still some of the finest I've ever seen in a #ttrpg

The vast beautiful emptiness of space, the huge planet. The tiny ship arcing towards the suns.
