  1. Still working on getting experience with the work flow, but I used OnShape to design a simple gantry to hold the power and vacuum hose, and then cut my very first parts out of 1/2" plywood. Patchouli is impressed. I made a couple of minor mistakes, but the parts are a tight fit and usable. #cnc #onshape #myprojects

  2. Progress on the CNC router has come at the expense of increase randomization in the shop. This morning's goal: a pointless battle against the inexorable forces of entropy. Wish me luck. #myprojects

  3. First serious thing cut on the CNC: the strut plates for... THE CNC! Can skynet be very far away? #cnc #myprojects

  4. Cut this little gear with a 1/8" spiral upcut out of some scrap acrylic from Tap Plastics. I still think I could tune the feed rates a bit better, but it looks pretty darned good. #cnc #myprojects

  5. First actual cut using my DIY Lowrider CNC: my house numbers carved into some scrap Formular pink foam I had lying in the shop. What do you all think? #myprojects #cnc #diy

  6. Okay, I have my Lowrider CNC beginning to function. I suspect I may have to do something to improve the flatness of the CNC table, but I'll keep progressing. I'm learning more about calibration in the mean time. #cnc #lowrider #myprojects

  7. Guys, try to guess the 10 constitutions that I often use as inspiration to write my draft constitution. One of them is a historical constitution from a socialist state that no longer exist today. Come on guys, this is fun!

  8. Do you know #DraculaDaily? This year I’m making my own version by printing it out and sending it to my sister and my cousin by mail. ☺️

I bound Jonathan Harker’s A5-sized Diary with some thread. According to the book, the diary is written in shorthand. So, I chose a somewhat hard to read font and made it small and narrow.

I also bought nice paper for letters and thin paper for newspaper clips. I think, they’ll love it!

  9. Raspberry Pi Picow Galactic Unicorn Weather and Clock display – Part 2
For the past day I have been working on the display code I started back in February. I have made some quality of life improvements and also made it easier to get running on your own Pimoroni Galactic Unicorn.

To recap, this code takes the weather data from Open Weather Map and turns it in

  10. Extremely Mini Raspberry Pi Cyberdeck – #raspberrypi #cyberdeck

    Introduction
Hi everyone. I recently took part in an episode of The Pi Cast from Tom's Hardware during which I presented my latest project: a Mini (or Tiny!) Raspberry Pi Cyberdeck. You can see the full episode below. Of particular interest is, around the 56s mark, I show how small this really is - Banana fo

  11. Magayon II going Electric Reloaded
    One of my pet projects

    The first attempt

The first attempt to electrify the drive for Magayon II led to me importing the first Toqeedo Travel outboard motor from Germany. I had contacted the company in Starnberg and wanted them to ship me a unit, but then they said they were just in the process to establish a loca

  12. Raspberry Pi Picow Galactic Unicorn Weather and Clock display
For the past month or so I've been working on a weather display that uses the amazing Galactic Unicorn LED Matrix from the Pirates at Pimoroni. This board has a Raspberry Pi Pico W onboard on the back along with a speaker, several user-controllable button

  16. Mastodon Wordcloud
Since leaving Twitter behind and moving over to Fosstodon.org (A Mastodon service), one of the fun things I missed was creating Word Clouds of my most used words. I wanted to be able to do the same to my data on Mastodon.

A few months ago I began looking at the Mastodon API and was initially overwhelmed with it. But perseverance and practice paid off and I now have a working prototype applic
