Not sure what got me thinking about Muzak and its initial experiment in Lakewood, Ohio before the company realized they couldn't beat commercial radio and shifted to focusing on commercial contracts (to improve worker efficiency and eventually consumer consumption.)
(Finding this fact is difficult as a 1984 Time magazine article misattributes it to Lakeland and this gets repeated by sloppiness that Google amplifies.)

There has to be some law, like Murphy’s or Moore’s, about how if you live long enough, all the vital #anthems of your youth will get turned into #musak and commercial jingles.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to figure out what I’m going to wear to the next “trash #disco” / “retro” night at my #gayborhood daddy bar. 🪩
