  3. Two years later, it really feels like the #Threads interpolation was just one big A/B test to see what it would take for federated users to hop the fence and join #Meta

    Every incremental "improvement" favors Meta.

    This is very interesting

This documents what I've seen since #Mosseri's #Threads clone showed up on #Mastodon back in December: you can Reply on Mastodon but replies do *not* propagate back over to Threads; any replies to the original do *not* propagate back over here to Mastodon

    It's all a mirage

To what specific end #Gargron has not seen fit to disclose, yet

  6. @AAKL

And this has been an interesting Mastodon / Fediverse development

Seems #FediDB has very recently added #Zuckerberg (who has only had a cloned profile replica on Mastodon since March 20) and #Mosseri to FediDB's

"Popular Fediverse Accounts: The most popular accounts across the fediverse"

page in first and third place, respectively

Which is quite a leap, since their only presence on Mastodon is the cloned replicas (no replies propagate in either direction) of their real profiles on Threads

All of which seems quite a leap, to put it mildly

The big PR push continues apace

It's interesting to drill down find out who's behind all that

Starts with a 'pixel' and ends with a 'fed'

I first read and replied to a cloned #Mosseri #Threads post over here on #Mastodon in December

    It's now March

I currently have fourteen Threads profiles cloned over here onto Mastodon in a Mastodon List

The fact that a very select few Threads profile posts are cloned over onto replicas on Mastodon is hardly any news to me

The replies here do *not* propagate back over to the original Threads post; replies on the Threads post do *not* propagate over onto the clone here on Mastodon

It's just more bullshit #Meta PR

Swallow it if you like; I am utterly unimpressed

Background: see my second and third pinned posts

I really hope that those people responding to that #Mosseri thread here on #Mastodon do realize that this is a one-way clone of the original post back over on #Threads, and that *none* of their replies here are propagated back over to the original post

    Which can be seen, here:

    threads.net/@mosseri/post/C3Ij

I'm not quite sure what the purpose of this little game is for #Zuckerberg and #Gargron, but clearly they have something in mind

Note that (currently) there are only nine Threads profiles anyone can even see here on Mastodon

Hint: search 'Threads.net' and look at profiles for those containing '@threads.net'

  10. @wndlb

Note that I'm not talking about the replica #Threads profile that gets pushed over here to #Mastodon

I'm referring specifically to the original profiles over on Threads

The replicas pulled over can be replied-to here on Mastodon, but those replies do *not* propagate back over to the original Threads profiles

So you won't get to see any hot-n-juicy Threads porn over here on Mastodon

And these are replies to #Mosseri over on his Threads profile, not Follows

    Here: threads.net/@mosseri

  11. @11thJeff

"Do you know why @mosseri is limiting this #mastodon crossover to just a few of his friends' accounts? Because #Threads has a massive, pervasive #porn bot account problem."

Hilarious that you even mention this

When #Mosseri first cross-posted his profile from #Threads into #Mastodon there were several porn replies almost immediately over there on Threads

This was literally in my pinned post back on December 14:

"There is some pretty hot-looking softcore pr0n showing up over there though...

    No CW's eh?

UPDATE: Checking again just now and the softcore pr0n post is gone

    Looks like she's been yoinked

Either that or it's been scrolled off the bottom, being > one hour old

    UPDATE to the UPDATE:

    Yeah, her account got yoinked -- 404's now : ( "

    cc @mosseri

  12. Just a couple of weeks, and #Mosseri, head of #Instagram (#Meta,) has become the second most followed account on #Mastodon--even more than double the number of followers than #Mastodon founders, @Gargron .

S/:No, there is nothing to be seen, move along!/s

  13. OK: time to end this charade

    #Threads dot net is #Blocked

Click this link, it will bring up #AdamMosseri @ Threads dot net as rendered by my instance's "paste URL" search

    sfba.social/@[email protected]

NOTE: #Mosseri does not have any real presence on #Mastodon that I have been able to find

Some slight-of-hand is being performed and a search for the three "official" Threads profiles will show up in a browser tab, but look at the URL bar

It points to Mosseri @ Threads as if he's on --> my <-- instance

So Threads responds to a search from a Mastodon instance by pushing the Threads content back into Mastodon where it's displayed as if native

Thinking now this may be a Webfinger deal. Further research needed...

What's interesting is that Threads has been open web pages ever since that first countdown clock rolled over and became a QR code when Threads went live back in july

    Here's #Zuck. He's been there the entire time: threads.net/@zuck

Anyway, click the three-dots and block away

    *poof*

    (1/2)

Maybe something qent wrong in "the last second," seems more likely to me. Who knows.

/s More interestingly, IF I were into betting, who'd bet against me that access to "premium content" (i. e. at least ad free) on the #Fediverse will NOT require a "premium subscription" within a year's time?!? /s

"#Instagram head Adam #Mosseri said in a post that there will be no ActivityPub support at launch...

“Soon, you’ll be able to follow and interact with people...

  16. #Mosseri, head of #Instagram, claims that they are 'committed to building support for #ActivityPub'.

Apparently he is open about migrating *from* #Threads to other servers. This is an opportunity for the rest of #Fediversum.
