  1. Calling #lego #modulex people. I'm toying around trying to sculpt some things with basic Modulex bricks but find it surprisingly challenging.

It's not just the limitations of the basic bricks (I want plates!) but also as some parts have very little clutch power. I can do with some inspiration.

Any links to inspirational / "technical" Modulex builds are very much appreciated.

  2. Update on the #lego #modulex baseboard tiny-brick-hoarding project.

Fewer new bricks than last time. A couple of 2x2s but mainly those funky Modulex roof building and angle parts in green and brown.

  3. Update on the #lego #modulex baseboard tiny-brick-hoarding project.

Lots of new bricks since l last shared this. Both the 1x1 alphabet (excluding the Danish fantasy letters) and numbers are complete thanks to an awesome person right here on Mastodon.

Near the bottom are a bunch of printed parts. I was sooo hoping these would be ugly but IRL they're surprisingly nice thus unfortunately that section now also requires completion.

I'm starting to feel sympathy for that hoarding dragon in LOTR.

  4. Fun #LEGO fact: in 1963 LEGO released the M20 #architecture system, later called #Modulex.

It came with a little rake so in those moments of desperate need for inspiration the architect could rake their mini-brick zen garden, empty their mind and visualize their next mid-century-style block of pastel colored concrete.

  5. Got some additional parts including two types of clear #Modulex and the elastic band used to graph sales and stuff in Proper Business settings. I just like the colors and shapes really.

    Updated version.

  6. Here's the one for the lower bracket. It has a 45 degree slope on both sides, tightly locking in the base board.

In my panel it's the one mounted vertically. It pulls the baseboard to the wall and locks in the two french cleats at the top

  7. Designed and printed some wall brackets to mount the Modulex base board on the wall. Very satisfying :-)

If anyone wants the #stl file, or even a printed version, DM me.

  8. I hear you asking "but why at nine in the evening Pepijn"?

Well. Firstly as absolutely no-one asked for this. And maybe also as during business hours I spend some time continuously improving the pile of #LEGO #Modulex bricks that arrived today...

  9. It's really nice how well the Modulex colors align with the colors of our typical Danish 1960-1980s house.

The photos (with the plastic appearing a bit reflective) don't do justice to how it appears in real life.

  10. Update: Today I got a #Modulex base plate and placed my red brick... I'm afraid this is the start of an obsessive hobby..

At least it takes less space than #LEGO :-)

    Thanks for the inspiration @cazmockett!

  11. Here's a family inventory of #bricks. It's as if it's some kind of system..

    From small to big: #lego, #duplo, #quatro, #primo, #storage-brick-io

The first three stack nicely and can be held upside down.

    Missing is a little red 2x4 #modulex 🧱

  12. Supposedly these purple #Modulex bricks were custom-made for a school in Germany? Anyone have any insights into what the symbols might mean in that context? #LEGO

  13. Sadly, this is the closest I'm going to get to a #WaffleHouse in California: #Modulex #LEGO

  14. Fighting the urge to remake the lab website using #LEGO #Modulex...

  15. I got some old #Modulex bricks as a birthday present. Modulex was a #LEGO spin-off that made bricks for architecture, project planning, signage, etc.

  16. Did you know #Lego had a system of bricks called #Modulex developed for professional use by architects, designers and planners?

This well researched video by Peter Dibble explores its history.

  17. CW: Honey, I shrunk the Lego

Just finished cleaning a basket of #VintageLego #Modulex bricks. These smaller than regular #Lego bricks were intended for #architecture #ModelMaking in the early #1960s

Lego made the Modulex 1x1 brick in a perfect square ratio 1:1:1 and a rather cute 5mm height (around half the height of a regular Lego brick).

Numerous colours were available including earth and pastel tones. The product line was discontinued under Lego by 1965 but the format continued for some years under a separate company #History #NowYouKnow
