Okay, I’m honestly curious. Is there some sort of reason that I’m not aware of that people don’t update their profile here? Like their profile image, banner, bio, etc.

#Mastodon hit 10 000 000 users yesterday. I wonder why there has been so little fanfare. And there has been huge increase in the influx of new users in recent days for some reason. Maybe because Mastodon works great. Anyway, congratulations!

I cannot understand where does this new uptick of #mastodonusers come from. A week or two ago it was smth like 200-300 new users in an hour. Last week it was smth like 6-700. Today it is like 1100-1300. Elon Musk has not done anything particularly silly, has he.

The fall back from the December peak in Mastodon user numbers was inevitable.
Many long term Twitter users may have joined Mastodon in protest of Musk's lunacy. While others were drawn to the idea of an ad-free social media with a history of tolerance and acceptance.As the user numbers settle down, I'm sure many instance admins will be relieved to see a more manageable increased user base.
This is a great place, the people interesting, diverse and generally respectful of others. Like any beauty spot, too many visitors could spoil it.

Make a button, to add to a toot, that if its retooted to boostville, the retooters are automatically followed.
Make federating individuals and home feeds EASY, if only for a year.
