I am tired of #safety and #security being treated as essential barriers of entry, to get things done on an #everyday level. Please stick to #passwordless #logins and #MagicLinks if you must use something, and let the account holder, not the holder of accounts, verify by a manner of each of our choosing, how to prove we are who we say we are. This is far more secure and less prone to #identity #impersonation as a result.

I'm likely spitting into the wind on this, and I know they are considered secure, but I cannot STAND magic links for authentication.
It's very clunky, and mega annoying to have to flip over to my email just to login - and some services are now using that as their only authentication method.
Yes. Passwords definitely suck - but at least allow me to configure a passkey.
It triggers my neurospicy brain in a major way. So much so that I have more than once deleted accounts for services minutes after signing up upon realizing that it's their only option. I will surely do so again.

I think #MagicLinks are one of the easiest way for user onboarding. Plus, better #authentication security. Without the corps having a say. 😅
And of course, #elixir has #AshFramework for a quick bootstrap. 😎

I like the idea of magic links for applications until I actually have to use them on a website. The process goes from taking 2 seconds to login with my password manager, to about 15. Not to mention having multiple tabs and then having to enter #2FA.
What’s the best way to make web authentication secure without everything taking so long to authenticate?
(because I know not everyone uses a password manager or creates secure passwords)
