I built an MCP server in Elixir and hit a failure I didn't see coming. One malformed request killed the process holding stdin, and the server simply vanished from the client. No error frame, nothing.

"Let it crash" assumes a restart boundary. At a stdio transport there isn't one. Here is what actually fixed it, and why keeping stdout pure ended up as a lint rule in that project.

No. Two actually. Both involve death and rebirth and are given by people I definitely trust to give great talks. Evadne Wu exclusively does cool shit. I've never seen her do anything uninteresting. Peter Solnica should be well-known to anyone from the Ruby space and now he does Sentry's Elixir libraries.

Ueber die Jahre hatte ich immer mal wieder etwas Spass mit Erlang und kleineren Serverprojekten, wie z.B. einem EPP-Server fuer die Registrierung von suedafrikanischen .co.za Domaenen.

Ich lese "Programming Elixir" von PragProg und nutze dabei moeglichst wenig generative KI.

Das Erlernen neuer Programmiersprachen hat mir immer viel Freude bereitet, aber in den letzten Jahren hatte ich doch Zweifel, inwieweit das noch von Nutzen ist.

Ich hab so Bock was großes zu machen, ohne #KI. Wieder ne Restaurant-Software. Mit #Elixir als std, mit #Fable fürs Phone, mit GLib für OS/2 / ArcaOS.

I submit the following screenshot as my entry to the "shipping embarrassing bugs straight to production" championship. Yep, used the #Elixir language module to parse the #Rustlang example on the Code.Movie home page. It's been like this for at least a few weeks.

On the other hand, the parser just sort of dealt with it, so... yay?
