E si leggeva anche questo: “La consegna di simili armi all'esercito ucraino è molto dibattuto in Europa ed è considerato un potenziale rischio dagli analisti militari, trattandosi di strumenti (anche) offensivi che potrebbero scatenare una reazione del Cremlino”.

Sugli #M777 è presente un sistema di controllo del fuoco di tipo digitale che permette di puntare e localizzare i bersagli rapidamente; bastano meno di 3 minuti per il posizionamento e servono cinque operatori per caricare il colpo e sparare. L'obice può essere armato anche con munizioni a guida GPS (come le M982 Excalibur) che aumentano la precisione. Esistono aggiornamenti di vario tipo in grado di migliorare la gittata e la precisione del sistema di puntamento.
