  1. A lovely piece by the author Ande Pliego about the libraries that are particularly close to her heart, and aspects of those libraries appear in her new novel 'The Library After Dark', a book that I don't think is really up my street, but that I might try just for its love of libraries.

For young people brandishing book tokens today, there are some marvellous queer-themed science and nature books out there . . . 🏳️‍🌈 🦆 :transgender: 🦋

  11. I worked from a London library today. In the 4 hours I was there I chatted with a chap that has nowhere to live, “paid it forward” at the cafe and loaned my phone charger to a chap for whom English wasn’t a first language.

Libraries are such important civic spaces. My heart is full. #LoveLibraries

  16. I love meetings at libraries that include looking through the stacks and end in an expertly curated exhibition. Get into the State Library of New South Wales to see Paper Universe: The book as art. It's delightful! (and not just because it was curated by the lovely Maria Savvidis! 😻)

  17. Bagged a #LibraryBingo with @tabisw yesterday at #Newcastle City Library.

Glass fronted with six floor atrium meant it was incredibly light. Chatty (with us) staff and people in using the space even though it was early on a Saturday. #LoveLibraries

  22. “Libraries have always been part of this ‘open’ idea… but they don’t quite realise they are also part of tech,” says @saera at @everythingopen “The digital divide is pushing the underprivileged further and further away.” Libraries are a point of connection helping bridge this divide.

  27. @PhotonQyv

Over the years, I have spent more on books than I probably should have done, but have borrowed many from the local library as well.

I recall reading, and enjoying, several books by Frank Yerby long ago. I am sure they are in the class known as Romance, though I had no idea back then, and didn't care, I guess.

Long out of print, I cannot typically find them in library catalogs these days.

  36. Gotta love public libraries - in Ireland the new joined up system means members can browse an online catalog, request a book, and get a text when it reaches the local branch. #LoveLibraries
