  1. Seeing as how I'm a #GenX'er in tech who likes to work for startups, I've gotten quite accustomed to my movie quotes and other cultural references going over the heads of my younger colleagues, but I must say I was both surprised and amused when, in a meeting yesterday, I used the word "obstreperous" and several of my colleagues had to look it up.
I guess I should add #logophile to the list of qualifications on my résumé.

  6. Disassembly of a 1971 Olivetti Lettera 32 typewriter. Sadly a tiny plastic gear broke and I can't find a replacement. I'll be parting this out, hopefully helping someone else and restoring their own Lettera 32.

  7. Diakka

Occultists and Theosophists term for untrustworthy spirits; “spooks” and “shells”, i.e., phantoms from Kâma Loka.

The Sanskrit term loka is cognate with English locus. The Kâma Loka is the plane or level of reality on which emotions operate, sometimes called astral, which is coexistent with and interpenetrates the physical plane.

  13. My local bookstore used to have a section for word lovers. 😞 I say used to … because I just cleared them out. 😁 😱 This is the book I picked for tonight and I love that it’s inscribed. There’s something so beautiful about these short glimpses into other lives. Two friends, who also loved words, crossing time to share this with me. #wordnerd #logophile #books
