The New Mexican Chronicles – One
Bilbo Baggins said something along the lines of: ‘One ought to be very careful when one steps out of one’s door, as one never knows where one may end up.’
I stepped out of the proverbial door with the intention of getting horribly drunk at the local pub, which was conveniently within walking distance. I was doing just this when someone I’d had a nodding acquaintance with ten years back in the army, walked into the pub.
We were both not working me by choice because I had just sold my house and inherited a nice sum of money, Trevor because he couldn’t find work at that time. Anyway, Trevor had heard that, somewhere in Pretoria, a company was looking for men with operational experience to train troops in some African country, and they were paying very well – in Dollars! He had a contact name: Sergeant Pelsur, a company name: Executive Something, and a telephone number he was too bloody scared to act on. Well, I’m not known to be a man who sits on his hands, so after a good few drinks, off we went to my girlfriend’s house to make the call. All went well and an appointment was set up for the following day.
This, by the way, was Monday. I gave Trevor some money for petrol and booze and we both tried to find our old army records. My girlfriend Charmaine came home and I told her the news. She took it quite well but her 17-year-old daughter, Samantha, was none too happy. And that is another tale with a Devil’s Tail attached. The next morning, after my customary breakfast of a six-pack and a few shots of vodka……. to be continued

The New Mexican Chronicles Intro
The Chinese have a CURSE, “May you live in interesting times.” I have had an interesting life! For various reasons I began to write some of my adventures down. This was the very first and I began writing The Chronicles of the Mexican Horse Thief in 1999…..
This is a new version with a new introduction and added information that I gathered since then.
The Chronicles of the Mexican Horse Thief – Angola.
The year is 1993, newly divorced and even more “newly” moved in with a woman, Charmaine was a very long suffering lady. We had lived together lest that one month when I decided to show her Barberton. Part of my very dual Gemini existence is knowing about places like Barberton. My paternal Grandfather was a miner, mainly working on the mines around Barberton area. So while growing up in a big city, I spent a lot of my school holidays with my Grandfather. He was like I am now, always lived way out of even a small town. He had a man servant that followed him around, from place to place, he was too a Gypsy, who had the unusual name of Chop-and-Dagger. Old man that had those blue rings around his eyes. My Grandfather used to have a whole case of cold drinks for me, and Chop-and-Dagger feed me meat and pap. Used to sit in his Kia with other Black grownups and sometimes a kid I could play with, there was just Bush for miles. In the day I was just left to my own devices; I was taken down the mines some times but not often. My Grandfather was a licensed Blaster, obviously, so like in Jaluka’s song, African Sky Blue, I have seen the ‘smoking rock face mummer”! I ran around that Bush catching all sorts of little animals, but my passion was snakes. My Grandfather was terrified of snakes as was Chop-and-Dagger.
As an adult I often went back to Barberton an interesting town with a rich history. The first Gold Rust and, believe it or not the first South African Stock Exchange. The Coco Pans over the mountain and into Swaziland…. Grandfather told me how people froze to death in them. Apparently an illegal ride into Swaziland in the late afternoon was the in thing. But. At night the Pans stopped, if you were in one high in the mountains, frozen, gets cold at night in the Lowveld.
Outside of Barberton is a small Hotel, it was called The Bougainvillea Hotel, stayed there often. One day decided to take Charmaine up there to show her the beautiful Bush. We stayed at the old hotel but it had recently been bought and renamed, The Digger’s Retreat. In the small bar we met the owner, Vic. He bought not only the hotel but a Gold Claim too. Yes you can still buy them, back then anyway. He had a plan that was just off the ground. He took his guests panning for gold. Not the fake kak like at Pilgrim’s Rest, the real McCoy! Now if you get caught with raw gold in South Africa, you will sit in jail longer than if you shot you neighbour dead. Gold and diamonds have always been very well… controlled. Vic had the Claim and therefore he was allowed to have raw gold. He had already found some tiny nuggets, had them in a pill bottle. Good deal. Take a tourist panning, they pay to stay at the hotel, bar and food, then pay to do a Gold Panning Tour and finally, if they do find gold, they HAVE to give it to Vic.
The claim was not far and he had the owner of a 4×4 on his payroll to take them out. Most important was Dannie. This guy was out of a Jock of the Bushveld story! Seriously. Old guy, who knows how old, no one knows, not even Dannie. He left home as a kid and went panning for gold here. A real life God damn Digger! Vic was ex-military and we got on fine, he then said if I want to, I could come and stay here, do the marketing and photography, learn to pan and help Dannie. Ok, I can do this.
Charmian. Long suffering Charmaine my brand new girlfriend. Now to drive back , 3 hours or so, get kit and then back here sounded like a pain in the butt. So. I told Charmaine, she should go back, had to be at work on Monday anyhow, work the week and on Saturday next, bring my kit. She did just that. I stayed there for a few months, and have some stories for another time. Right now let’s get back to the Angola story.

Unnatural Phenomena Hypothesis One
Just recently we had all those elephants that died, and still no idea why? Oh lots of theories but not one solid fact I can find. Then the Sardines of our coast here. Again a lot of speculation, and I see the … people that play the virus fear game are already onto this one! Bullshit Trust the Science coming up!
While this is going on I have been looking up all the poisons that are used for just insect “control” so far. How no matter what the Trust the Science says on the labels, what we use DOES NOT break down. The bastards actually write that in the fine print, same as they do on your medicine drugs.
Before we go even one bloody step further better put in this bit of info, as I have one of them thingies.
A hypothesis is a proposed, testable explanation for a phenomenon or a specific prediction about the relationship between two or more variables. It serves as a starting point for further investigation or scientific experiments.
One gets “ Cold Case “ files on say murder. One day some ou admits to a few and that cleans up the docents a bit. The Biological Disaster Docket id FULL of unexplained things, full. The whales that beach is the biggest example, as whales are… big.
My hypothesis is just off the top of my head at the moment, but I think it IS a starting point for the further investigation.
Neurotoxins are to blame for some of these phenomena!
Most of the poisons for insects have neurotoxic poison in them. As I am already proving that these are in every single Biosphere, and still active this could explain a bit, the starting point. Neurotoxin I read about and kept up with my whole life. It is the venom that could kill me, not hurt, kill. And relatively quickly. Also I felt a bit of the effects of a bit of it in me! That Stiletto Snake has a bit in it. I had not had a drink or taken ANY mild altering substance for a few years at the time I was bitten. Oh boy, the pain was bad but the wonky drunk feeling was cool! Later that night the nightmares were not so cool ha ha.
Why do I tell you this? Because all living things on this planet right now are exposed to a lot of this type of toxin. Therefore back to the whales. I believe that the neurotoxins are making them drunk, losing their sense of bearing, crashing into land. In Visser and Chapman’s book,(old book) Snake and Snake Bite, one case history is of a chap bitten by a Black Mamba. He gets to hospital, gets treated and becomes a jolly fellow, like a happy drunk, doc goes home as patient seems fine. Patient died a little while after. He was high on venom. You may have seen there is a fad in India where men get bitten by Cobras to get high? Well, a drunk whale…. Could be as simple an explanation as that.
Again, I refer to The Butterfly Effect. How much poison is in say, those Krill?Need a person that can look into this stuff for me….

Big Five Wars – Petitions.
Help Needed!
Working on the Pen is Mightier than the Sword surmise, I looked at this Petition story. As you know, never being one for signing them, never mind making one up myself. This is a place I am looking for help! Not your money but time and expertise . There is a big list of what is needed and has to be done
What is what is needed to get one going from the Doom Fogger alone! Time and the fact that the wifi here is terrible…. I cannot make this type of thing right now. (War Chest needs donations please!!!)
Broader Pesticide and Chemical Petitions
While household aerosol brands like Doom are not singled out for bans, civil society groups and environmental organizations frequently run campaigns targeting highly hazardous pesticides, agricultural chemicals, and toxic street pesticides. You can look into broader active campaigns via platforms like Awethu or organizations like groundWork and the African Centre for Biodiversity which campaign against toxic agrotoxins and double standards on hazardous chemicals.
I shall write to the organization above, but hold little hope…. Awethu I shall not bother, more concerned about the colour of my skin than what I have to show them.
The only legal action I can find with Doom in it is that Preacher that sprayed “HOLY” Doom on idiots..
The “Prophet of Doom” Case: Rather than a consumer ban, legal action has successfully addressed the misuse of Doom. The Limpopo High Court issued a permanent interdict and a criminal conviction for assault against a pastor who sprayed congregants in the face with Doom insecticide under the guise of religious healing.
Perhaps someone reading this will know how to get a Doom Fogger Petition running? If so I will post it all over !!

Doom Fogger
Based on the fact that just about every single place I have been in the wild country, to work or just to visit, has had DOOM FOGGERS! Either saw them used or saw them in the supply cupboards, waiting……
Let us investigate the damage the Big Five, Five Star Lodges IN our reserves, both government and private do with just this ONE. The articles up to now have been about the general poisons we use in South Africa, and seems Kenya, how many are banned any where else in the world. Some are hidden in these awful everyday poisons available freely in EVERY shop in EVERY Park. WHY? Money. A LOT of money. Cannot have a guest that is paying these exorbitant prices for a faux Out of Africa …. experience getting Gogga bites, can we?
This is what I find about the stuff, very quickly, therefore the people that make it know …
The Doom Dual Action Fogger releases a broad-spectrum pesticide mist that poses notable health, safety, and effectiveness drawbacks. It contains active pyrethroid chemicals , like d-tetramethrin and cyphenothrin, and liquefied petroleum gas propellants that carry severe risks if safety rules are ignored.
Here the info goes on a bit about how this stuff will damage humans that mess up with the “safety rules” . Obviously this is a problem, not for Big Five Lodge’s owners but for the staff that must work with this shit. Like the spraying of the Winelands I posted on? Here it will not be as visible and one would have to be a damn clever scientist to follow the damage I Know has been done to the ecosystems. Nevermind. My concern is for the ecosystem in general. I will post the data on ecological safety of this product. Trust the Science at it’s best!!! How this breaks down data, again, High School Biology tells me,
“What a lot of kak!” You can decide for yourself, read on.
D-tetramethrin and cyphenothrin are synthetic pyrethroid insecticides that pose a high risk to aquatic life and beneficial insects via runoff, but they break down quickly in sunlight and air, minimizing long-term accumulation in soil.
If you believe that, you must be one of the Pro- Jab people! Look at the details they give on two of the chemical poisons in Doom Fogger, just under this amazing statement! By now if you have been reading, you will know that water attracts poisons very nicely and spreads then everywhere. …..
Aquatic Ecosystems
High Toxicity: Extremely toxic to fish, water fleas, and aquatic arthropods.
Runoff Danger: Seepage or spray drift into ponds, streams, or rivers can cause high mortality or developmental abnormalities.
Sediment Binding: They stick strongly to soil and organic matter, accumulating in bottom sediment where they threaten bottom-dwelling organisms.
Contradictions!! They are so bold I will not bother to point them out. It is clear that these poisons WILL get to the ocean and still be active. This too some honest scientist WILL be able to prove. Then, the article, The Butterfly Effect was written first with intent to show what the end result will be if we do not stop producing these chemicals, not ban them, control them with laws, f-ing ban the manufacture and put the CEOs on trial for ECO TERRORISM
Terrestrial Wildlife and Insects
Beneficial Insects: Moderately to highly toxic to honeybees and other vital pollinators on contact.
Birds and Mammals: Generally low toxicity for birds, though moderate oral toxicity can affect small mammals if ingested directly.
Environmental Persistence
Fast Breakdown: Sunlight (UV light) and microbes break down both chemicals rapidly on plant surfaces and topsoil.
Low Groundwater Risk: Because they bind tightly to soil and do not dissolve well in water, they rarely leach into deep groundwater systems.
Again, a two second look up and got the above..
I question the “breakdown”. Hell I do not “question” it… it is a lot of Trust the Science kak.
And, used Google AI and asked why we allow these two in the Doom products? Reply:
The use of d-tetramethrin and cyphenothrin is permitted in consumer products like the Doom Fogger because regulatory approval balances high efficacy against indoor pests with minimal human health risks, under the strict condition that it is confined to indoor spaces.
Well, that is enough for one article I think. More about just the Doom and the Shops in the Parks will follow.

DDT – Trust the Science
1940s: DDT sprayed onto children’s heads.
Its inventor gets the Nobel in 1948. Trust the Science.
Swiss chemist Paul Hermann Müller discovered the insect-killing properties of DDT in 1939. He won the 1948 Nobel Prize for his discovery, which played a historic role in halting deadly insect-borne epidemics like malaria and typhus.
In the 1960s and 1970s, books like Silent Spring showed how DDT hurt birds and wildlife, leading most countries to ban it.
Talk about a Rabbit Hole! The Silent Spring from a quick look does way more than that. Mainly I see that the Lady not only told them about DDT, but chemicals in general. AND. She seems to have prophesized what is happening today!! I will have to find out more….. back to the DDT…
DDT was banned for general and agricultural use in the United States in 1972, followed by South Africa in 1974, and largely restricted worldwide under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants in 2004.Timeline of the DDT Ban1972: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a cancellation order for most DDT uses due to environmental and wildlife damage.
1974: South Africa banned general use of DDT, though restricted public health applications for malaria control in specific regions continued.2004
There is no official or exact statistical figure tracking a specific number of chemicals that are simultaneously banned yet actively imported into South Africa from the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.
I read about “hackers”, man I would LOVE to be able to do that. Or at least meet someone that can get me info I know is there!
Then. Up in Angola in 1994 I saw, and used DDT. Put it on my ankles mainly. No tick bites while I was up there after that. Don’t know if it made me sick as we were all sick from Gogga bites and what-not, before we got the DDT.

Big Five Sprays
There are some government approved poisons that are been sprayed in all our National Parks ( and in Cities ) The main ingredient is something called Pyrethroids. Look at this link please. I am using Marloth as an example, but all government run Parks, are using the same stuff. Here I am unfortunate enough to have seen for one year no spray, then nearly the same time after a Lodge got sprayed. So. Observation is always best. But I shall leave the observations for now…. Climate Change – BFW
Climate Change..Ja. From what I know about biology and breeding very very delicate tropical fish, a slow change in temperature does not kill them. Man, you say "BOO!" to some of those fish and they die! But a variation from 26 to 28C , slowly, does not kill them. Get some diseases like White Spot, that come out though and have to treat the water…. We need to treat the whole damn Earth. NOW!!Put everything I could think of into the equation with what has happened and the strategy of the […]https://waynebisset.wordpress.com/2026/08/13/climate-change-bfw/
