Pt 1/2Timber thieves operated in a small town in Mexico. Cherán is a town of some 20,000 inhabitants in the highlands of Michoacán.
"One estimate states that about half of the area's 17,000 hectares of forest have been lost to illegal logging..."about fifty thousand acres of forest were illegally cut between 2008 and 2011," and 200–250 logging trucks a day passed through the town."
