  1. A quotation from Shelley

    Rise like Lions after slumber
    In unvanquishable number,
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you
Ye are many — they are few.

Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822) English poet
Poem (1819), “The Mask of Anarchy,” st. 38

  2. Why no foreign uprising about Gaza genocide ?

One person on Mastodon asked why people in Western countries, the countries complicit in the Gaza genocide,
do not rise up and overthrow the regimes.

    Very interesting question.

And can I write about this here without getting arrested immediately ?
You never know in this “cool”, former colonist, Netherlands country.
Therefore I’ll keep it polite and “classy”.

My gut feeling not based on facts tells me that this is not feasible in Western Europe.
In South America maybe. In Africa and Asia it’s possible.

And then there’s the mysterious USA.
One wonders what happened to all the bragging gun lovers wanting to defend themselves.
Now that the enemy within, the fascist Trump regime, is destroying parts of USA (with Putin
in Russia laughing” there is still no civil war. Ironically Elon “Nazi salute” Musk who
made hints about civil war in the UK is still influencing millions of people without
    any repercussions.

How about the Netherlands (further abbreviated as NL) ?

Since a really long time I have been thinking that the middle class has grown too big,
and too many people have been happy with their TVs, cars, and more recently an
incredible amount of people appear to be married with their phones.

As long if there is not a critical mass of angry people in a country
who want big chances there’s little chance for an uprising.

But in general for uprisings various other ingredients can be important.
    For example, a corrupt military.

However, one thing is that mass surveillance is pretty strong in NL.
Cameras everywhere, and climate activists getting arrested for no reason, just
    for intimidation.
(With some “funny” exception like diamond stealing. A bunch of guys stole several
diamonds during the day at an exhibition and <checks notes> they got away by
using electric steps, and still not arrested as far as I’ve seen in the news.)
The other thing is that fossil fuels dependency (and possibly lobbying, bribes)
is pretty strong, as well as the “special” relationships with the USA and Israel,
meaning that there’s all kind of companies involved backing the government’s
    status quo.

Add to that the massive rise of fascism, with fascism ideas been normalized in
talkshows, newspapers, TV, radio and so on.
Currently the Netherlands has these fascist political parties in the 2nd Chamber :
PVV,FvD,JA21,Groep Markuszo, and the fascist leaning VVD,BBB,SGP.
That’s a scary seven political parties.

Regime change in the Netherlands, whether that is by voting, discrediting
fascists, demonstrations, writing to your MPs and so on, is not realistic
    any time soon.

What can do you if you’re in the Netherlands apart from boycotting Israel ?

Take on the fossil fuel, by doing this it basically weakens the power of the
    current government.

    – Buy a solar panel for your balcony.
If you don’t want to spend money on it start a crowdfunding campaign.

    – Experiment with wind energy for small things that need little amount
    of energy.

    – Stop cooking on gas. Buy a rice-cooker. Eat more raw food and bread.

    – Break with the banks that support climate-destruction, war, apartheid.

    – Break with health care insurance companies that support
    climate-destruction, war, apartheid.

    – Urge your city to do more for public transport.

    – Start talking about Israel’s apartheid. NL has a history with
apartheid in South-Africa, that is an emotional connections. Lots of
politicians, newspapers and journalists are still very afraid to use the word
genocide in regards to Gaza. Therefore empathize on the word
apartheid. Israel is an apartheid state and NL is shamefully supporting
    that very much.

    – Ask your work to be allowed to work more from home if you need to
travel by car to your work.

    – Donate to projects that will support Palestine, for example
    Plant een olijfboom.

    – Call out government and complicit people about them falling for the
lobbying by CIDI. If they really stand for all Jews in this world why
is a Jewish group like Een ander Joods geluid every time excluded
from talks with the government ?

    – Promote music that is anti-genocide and pro-Palestine, for example
the Irish band Kneecap and Bob Vylan.

    – Consider traveling to the West Bank to support Palestine people
against the Zionist settlers violence simply by staying there.

    – Follow the Global Sumus Flotilla sailing with more than 100 boats to Gaza
    to break the illegal siege.

    – Write angry letters to your newspapers about the shameful Israel apartheid
    complicity of NL.

    – Tell people that the slogan “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will
be free” is not a violent slogan. Go read about the violent Christian Crusades
history and you’ll see the name Palestine. Jews and Palestians have lived
in peace in the past in the same area.

Boosting is not immediately endorsement. You can boost
a Mastodon post to share ideas, food for thought, food for discussion,
food for change. Go for critical thinking.

Like in the Monty Python movie Life of Brian where Brian from an open window
shouts to the huge crowd outside below “You need to think for yourself!”
(and the crowd, like a unison choir shouts “We need to think for ourselves”).

Critical thinking is something we need more than before in these times
where silence and looking away has become normal for many people.

    Free free Palestine!

Wer bist du und was machst du?

Zahlreiche historische Romane haben Ketts Rebellion thematisiert: „Mistress Haselwode: A tale of the Reformation Oak“ (1876) von Frederick H. Moore; „For Kett and Countryside“ (1910) von F.C. Tansley; „The Great Oak“ (1949) von Jack Lindsay; „A Rebellious Oak“ (2012) von Margaret Callow und „Tombland“ (2018) von C.J. 9. On April 12, 2015, lifelong Baltimore resident #Freddie #Gray was arrested, hogtied and thrown into the back of a police van by six officers.

When Gray was pulled from the van less than an hour later, he was in a coma.

A week later, he passed away from severe injuries to his cervical spinal cord.

The incident, and the revelations thereafter, set Baltimore and the entire country ablaze.

Details of the case alleged officers had taken Gray for a “rough ride,”
    a police brutality practice
where individuals are intentionally left unrestrained in police vehicles during dangerous driving maneuvers.

After a coroner ruled Gray’s death a homicide,
the six officers involved in his arrest were charged with crimes ranging from false imprisonment to manslaughter.

But the damage was done, not only to Gray, but to his community,
which had endured decades of deprivations and abuse by Baltimore police.

The resulting #Baltimore #Uprising shook the city and the nation to its core,
fueling a fresh wave of Black Lives Matter protests building on the murders of #Trayvon #Martin, #Mike #Brown, and #Eric #Garner.

  15. On a sweltering evening in the thumb pad of Michigan’s mitten, a self-described prophet promised 700 Christians under a crisp white tent that they were about to #cheat #death.
They would do this by winning the swing state for Donald Trump.

    The reasoning was simple:
Each of the Christians assembled would soon feel a call to become a #poll #watcher or to knock on doors or to organize their church
—to take part in some act that would aid the Republican presidential candidate.

⭐️And that act would keep them safe, the prophet said, because God would not call them home before they had completed the task He had given them.
🔥“The greatest argument you have with death is an unfulfilled assignment,” the man, #Lance #Wallnau, told the crowd

This was the third stop of the “#Courage #Tour,”
a traveling worship spectacle passing through key battleground states ahead of the upcoming presidential election.

Organized by Wallnau, a sixtysomething Texas-based evangelical with a salesman’s persona,
the three-day event was a marriage of the religious and the political,
a swirl of prophecies and PowerPoints and speaking in tongues.

It was a call to arms, a campaign strategy session, and
    —above all
—an honest-to-God old-fashioned Pentecostal tent revival.

It was also a showcase of the power of a rapidly growing, militant right-wing movement in American Christianity.

Wallnau is a major leader in a coalition of Christians who believe that Trump is prophesied to play a critical role in the nation’s spiritual reformation
—that the former president is destined to be a catalyst for the next Great Awakening, even.

These Christians see Trump as a modern-day Cyrus the Great,
the powerful empire builder and nonbeliever who is credited in the Old Testament with returning the Jews to the Holy Land.

They believe that under Trump’s protection, American Christians will rise up,
    defeat their #demonic #enemies,
and take their rightful place of power in the country.

This belief in a Trump prophecy has only grown stronger among the faithful since the former president survived an #assassination attempt in July.

It is so strong, in fact, that anything that could stand in Trump’s way
    —democratic or otherwise
—is perceived as a force of #evil that must be battled on a spiritual plane.

This has already played out once:
    After Trump lost the 2020 election, Wallnau held nearly daily rants about the #stolen #election on Facebook Live;

he decreed in one online prayer call that 💥God would overturn the election results.

He spoke at a major rally for Christian election deniers in Washington on Dec. 12 of that year,
warning that there was “a backlash coming”
and announcing that it would be the “beginning of a #Christian #populist #uprising.”

He and other right-wing Christian leaders circled the Capitol while blowing #shofars and praying for the election to be overturned,
drawing clear parallels to the biblical story from the Book of Joshua in which the Israelite army marches around the city of Jericho,
blowing horns until its walls crumble and the Israelites conquer the city and #slaughter its inhabitants.

The event, which preceded a night of #political #violence in the nation’s capital, drew thousands of attendees in what was widely seen as a precursor to the Jan. 6 riot.

"On this #MemorialDay weekend, we must also remember and honor the many native #HumanRights warriors such as #LarryCasuse and other brave indigenous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in fighting for the lives and future of red people and nations on #TurtleIsland and throughout the Western Hemisphere—the red quarter of #MotherEarth.

"In the course of our long, hard, and bloody struggle for survival, since 1492, we are here only because our ancestors fought for our right to live and exist as first people and nations in the Americas.

"As an aging but still surviving veteran of the intense bordertown wars in Gallup and Farmington in the 1970s, I will remember always great warriors such as #HerbBlatchford, #RobertNakaidinae, #FredJohnson, #LucyKeeswood, and many, many more courageous fighters of that era including the late great Lorenzo LeValdo and Taft Scott who were also very much a part of the 1974 #Totah #Navajo #CivilRights campaign."

  18. The word #شهيد, #shaheed, "carries connotations not only of seeing, but of presence and proximity. To be a #witness is to make contact, to be touched, and to bear the marks of this touch.

"Shaheed is the word Palestinians use to describe those lost to Israeli violence, a word which has drawn condemnation from American universities and press, who once again presume to know the meaning of Arabic-rooted terms, without bothering to investigate. They allege the word #martyr glorifies death for death’s sake. But in this context, it should be read as honoring the truth these brutalized bodies speak. Their flesh, marked by colonial violence, makes visible the wild injustice they endured. Which is to say, their martyrdom tells us the truth about our world."

"Escalating Repression: #RICO and the Furtherance of the Conspiracy

"With the benefit of hindsight, it is clear that the 'tactics of organized criminals' language Governor Kemp used on July 2 was not just boilerplate copy drafted by an intern, nor was the August 2 press conference simply propaganda to assure backers that the state could still protect their investments. These phrases and statements were shaping operations, carefully crafted interventions designed to position the government for their next operation: the blanket criminalization of the entire movement.

"On August 29, the Attorney General of #Georgia, Christopher M. Carr, filed an indictment with the Fulton County Superior Court, bringing charges against 61 people under Georgia’s version of the Rackeeter-Influenced Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act O.C.G.A. § 16-14-4. The indictment became public on September 5. The document, which is over 100 pages long and very poorly written, claims that the 'conspiracy' (which it names 'Defend the Atlanta Forest') was 'founded' on May 25, 2020—the day that #MinneapolisPolice officers murdered #GeorgeFloyd, precipitating a nationwide #uprising.

"This was a serious escalation. It did not catch everyone by surprise: the #AtlantaSolidarityFund has been braced for such charges since February. The authorities and their extreme-right proxies had been demanding a full-scale crackdown on the movement for over a year, spreading a conspiracy theory that the movement was a mafia controlled by a shadowy and well-connected group (a narrative some activists also reproduced, apparently with no sense of irony). According to one version of this conspiracy theory, circulated by far-right trolls, the Network for Stronger Communities (a Georgia-based nonprofit organization) operates a number of financial enterprises, including the Atlanta Solidarity Fund, that coordinate acts of terrorism in order to accumulate wealth and influence. Of the 61 accused, three were members of the Atlanta Solidarity Fund. The 42 people already facing #DomesticTerrorism charges were also indicted, as well as a number of other people whose connection to the movement was unclear. The indictment alleged that some people had committed acts in 'overt furtherance of the conspiracy' such as buying #GlueSticks for #SignMaking. [UK is using similar tactics, arresting people for just having #Superglue or #BikeLocks in their possession.]

"The RICO indictment was not a legal procedure but a political act. It was not a judicial intervention to suppress criminal activity but a government measure to crush what the text describes as '#anarchism,' '#collectivism,' '#SocialSolidarity,' '#MutualAid.”

"It is not simply 61 people who are on trial. By dating the case to the murder of George Floyd, the prosecution showed that their real target was the entire population of millions that participated in the consequent revolt. This is not an unusual court case, but a new chapter in the fight between those who seek to preserve the hierarchies of a structurally white supremacist society and those fighting to destroy it root and branch. The indictment does not present a list of crimes. It describes the contours and values of a rival society emerging within the movement to stop Cop City, aspiring to reinvent the world according to a different logic.

"The Fulton County Judge assigned to the RICO case immediately recused himself. Until then, judges had not recused themselves from cases related to the movement even when they possessed obvious ties to the Atlanta Police Foundation."
