  1. Seems that @nextcloud native app on Android is not particularly useful when it comes to frictionless bidirectional folders/files syncing? 🧐 I'm using (proprietary) #FolderSync on Android for syncing with Nextcloud for now. Let me know if you have better options. #hobbyprojects #googlefree

  2. After a lot of experiments trying to get my ATtiny85 to sleep as deeply as possible, wake up on a sensor signal, transmit a message over 433 MHz, and then fall asleep again, I realized I could transmit immediately on startup instead and simply turn the whole microcontroller on using the sensor signal. Almost too simple, but those are the best solutions!

  3. And yes, unless it was clear from the previous post, the experiment was a success and the monster lives! 🧟 Making a tidier version of the programmer with a custom PCB would be a nice little hobby project. #electronics #tinkering #hobby #hobbyproject #hobbyprojects

  8. I have tried (and liked) Documentation Driven Development before as it focuses on the usage first and implementation second.

For an upcoming feature for my project, I've decided to write (marketing style) release notes first and move backwards from there.

I wanna see if I can craft something that would be an exciting new feature before I write a single line of code.

  9. @Raspberry_Pi Just go through every single line in my systemd to get the latest status of lightdm... Nice use of limited computing power and IO.

  10. Everything seems to be working, phew! Warning lights, headlights and horn 🔈 Now I just have to mount the front to the rover, stick the camera on there and this little step is done.

  11. I just received my first batch of custom PCBs! So much fun, and honestly worryingly cheap. It's very tempting to start soldering right away, but I guess taking the kids to preschool has higher priority ... again. #pcb #pcbdesign #electronics #hobby #hobbyproject #hobbyprojects

  12. Adjusting the position of the ride wheels of my little rover. Not quite right yet in this shot. #hobby #hobbyproject #hobbyprojects #tinkering

  13. Earlier in the summer I thought it would be fun to design my own PCB at some point, and a few weeks later I decided to just give it a go. It's half circuit and half just a mounting board for things I need in specific places on my Raspberry pi rover, so the layout is a bit weird, but I think it could work! People who actually know what they're doing might disagree. #pcb #pcbdesign #kicad #electronics #raspberrypi #hobby #hobbyproject #hobbyprojects

  14. Today I found myself with about half an hour of me-time after work, and naturally spent it poking down a stuck toy from the roof of our patio room using my remote-controlled rover equipped with a carefully designed poking stick. It was more difficult than expected since the rubbery toy had almost fused with the plastic roof, but I got it loose just as I had to go pick up the family from a play date. Mission accomplished! #robot #rover #electronics #raspberrypi #hobby #hobbyproject #hobbyprojects

  15. The other day I tinkered a bit with the web interface for controlling my little Raspberry pi rover. It's beginning to look pretty sweet if I may say so myself!

  16. A quick test run! The camera is mounted way too low, but it will do for now. Also one side of the gearbox is a lot noisier than the other. I might have to disassemble it and see what's going on. Still I'm very happy with the result so far, it's a lot of fun to drive around with it! #raspberrypi #electronics #tinkering #remotecontrolled #rover #hobbyproject #hobbyprojects

  17. Finally mounted the battery hat on the Raspberry pi, and experimented a bit with different ways of fitting the different parts onto the base. This is my favorite so far, pretty compact with a low center of gravity. If I decide to stick with it I might get some 3D-printed mounts, but cardboard and tape works for now. #raspberrypi #electronics #tinkering #rover #hobbyproject #hobbyprojects

  18. Surprise delivery early in the morning! More upgrades for the Raspberry pi rover; a Waveshare UPS hat, which will provide power with a *much* slimmer profile than the awkward freebie power bank I'm currently using. Can't wait to put it all together! #raspberrypi #electronics #tinkering #hobby #hobbyproject #hobbyprojects

  19. Unexpectedly got some hobby time in this evening, and quickly prepared a couple of beefier motors for my Raspberry pi rover. I bought these along with the gearbox and the current motors over ten years ago - good thinking, past me! 6V motors should make a difference compared to the current 3V ones. #raspberrypi #electronics #tinkering #hobby #hobbyproject #hobbyprojects

  20. These LEDs are blinked by a bunch of code on top of a setInterval in a node app on a Raspberry pi zero. I expected a much more erratic blinking to be honest. This I could watch for hours ... or, well, for seconds at least. #raspberrypi #node #electronics #tinkering #hobbyproject #hobbyprojects

  21. Say hello to my temporarily taped together, almost fully functional little friend! It runs a Node application serving a web page reading input from a gamepad and sending commands back over a web socket. The software is very modular and configurable to control any kind of machine with different numbers of motors and other outputs. I wrote most of it without any hardware to test it on, but it seems to work mostly as intended. Fun! #raspberrypi #electronics #tinkering #hobbyproject #hobbyprojects

  22. I got this little computer about twelve years ago for my little hobby project. I think @lardh recommended it, but I never got around to even booting it. I think it's a low-power 486 or something like that, which I thought was appealing as it would theoretically be able to run more commonly available software. I'm not sure how true that was, but I felt good in theory. At least it has a very nice little case! #hobbyproject #hobbyprojects #minicomputer #minipc
