  1. @hongminhee I sometimes add a zero width space (I think). Like "#jernbanedirektoratets #fjerntogstrategi" (genetiv s). Could also be used like #is#pinne?

Putting hashtags at the end creates a #hashtagbar in Mastodon, and I seems to recall that non-space hashtags works for non-latin languages? On the other hand Mastodon doesn't consider line break to be space in the hashtagbar which breaks some asian posts

  2. RE: activitypub.blog/2025/11/12/7-

Mastodon's web client also show the hashtag bar when the hashtag are «out of band» in hashtag-tag w3.org/TR/activitystreams-voca but not in the post itself, e.g. like some posts from #WordPress as quoted here.

Maybe other clients should display something similar to the hashtag bar? @phanpy, @tootapp @ivory ?

Event tough some clients don't show the out-of-band-hashtags, they are still searchable.

  3. Are there any user documentations on how the hashtag bar works? I.e. how placing hashtags at the end of a posts create an expandable bar at the end of the post and also how hashtags with certain characters like #å in #blåhaj will normalized to ascii and placed there.

The #JoinMastodon doc on docs.joinmastodon.org/user/pos doesn't mention this.

  4. Hey guys. I tag you all with this list of hashtags I follow. For those who don't know, since an update last summer, mastodon allows us to use all our tags in a more elegant way 😉

Put all hashtags in a single line of tags at the end of the toot, after an empty line break.

Also please, don't just copy your content from other platform without formatting it...

  5. If you're attempting to build an #ActivityPub note that will end up creating Mastodon's new #HashtagBar, "last line" is actually the last element of the content.

It must be wrapped in an element like a <span>, <div> or <p> and only contain <a hrefs>(?). In addition, the hrefs must have a # directly before the <a> or as the first character in each <a> tag.

Is this spelled out anywhere? Hope this helps someone.

    <p>#<a href>TagName</a></p> or <div><a href>#TagName</a></div> works.

  6. I like Mastodon but when I try searching for #Hashtag maybe I should have the option first to look for #Hashtag and not have to look at pages of #HashtagFoo #HashtagBar #HashtagIsTheBestTag ??? 😾
