Seems to be a known issue with AMD processors.

So this Gnome 41 Device Security settings/options in settings are cool but I'm getting this error with kernel Linux 6.12.11-200.fc41.x86_64.
I have seen several posts saying this is a bug with this kernel but I want to make sure there is nothing I can do to remedy this now. #linux #fedora #fedora41 #gnome47 #Thinkpad_T14_Gen3

Es ist wirklich erstaunlich, was sich die GNOME-Entwickler dabei gedacht haben. Eigene Tastaturkürzel funktionieren auf einem leeren Desktop einfach nicht – ein Beispiel ist das GNOME-Terminal. Erst wenn ich das Terminal manuell per Mausklick öffne, werden die entsprechenden Tastenkombinationen akzeptiert. Dafür fehlen mir die Worte...

I am looking for #help trying to understand #Debian versioning, because I am considering to switch to it from #Fedora, but to be honest I want a bit of the new stuff, and I am too much of a nerd to stay stuck for two years with the same version of a desktop environment.
For example, my main concern is #GNOME. Right now, I am using #GNOME47 on #Fedora41, but if I were to switch to Debian, what would be the most recent GNOME version I could use with it?
As far as I understand, it seems to me that even on Debian Sid the latest GNOME version available is 44…

Bis #Fedora 39 war es mir möglich, Fehler über den Bugtracker von #GNOME zu melden. Doch seit der Neuinstallation von Fedora 40ff scheint meine Konfiguration nicht mehr akzeptiert zu werden. Die Optionen im GNOME Bugtracker sind begrenzt, so dass es kaum Spielraum für Fehler gibt – oder vielleicht entgeht mir einfach etwas.

Das erwähnte Problem betrifft mich ebenfalls, und ich kann kaum nachvollziehen, warum es von den #GNOME- und #GTK-Entwicklern unbeachtet bleibt. Gelegentlich beschleicht mich das Gefühl, dass die Entwickler ihre eigenen Anwendungen nicht aktiv nutzen. In einer älteren GNOME-Version vor 3 war diese Funktionalität noch vorhanden.

Komme eben dazu auf dein Posting zu Antworten.
Ich will nicht alles hoch skalieren. Platz für die Darstellung soll es noch geben. Ich habe es testweise auf 125% Skalierung geändert, aber der Platz wird dennoch nicht genutzt.
Bei meinen damaligen 16:10 (1920x1200) Monitor sah es besser aus.ich vermute mal es ist alles auf Touch ausgelegt.

Mein Skalierungsfaktor beträgt 1,40 und ich finde es ist ein guter Kompromiss für die Größe und Platz. Sollte eigentlich langen aber die #GNOME eigene Darstellung ist nicht so gelungen.

Es tut mir leid, dass ich mich wiederhole, aber der GNOME-Desktop ist einfach nicht optimal für 4K-Monitore ausgelegt. Ich frage mich, was die Entwickler sich dabei gedacht haben. Es wirkt, als sei entweder der Platz nicht richtig genutzt oder als sei die Umsetzung nicht vollständig durchdacht. Als Endbenutzer finde ich das ziemlich frustrierend.

Well, I told myself I was going to stick to debian/stable on the personal laptop, but I see that testing (Trixie) now got updated gnome desktop.
Couldn't resist the upgrade 😄
Very smooth. Only dkms modules of evdi (silly displaylink), and wireguard since they rolled that module into linux-image, have any issue during the dist-upgrade.
