  2. @jcrabapple I had a few stumbles with #JellyFin to start (around it needing a special - but sanctioned - build of #ffmpeg on my platform), but once I figured that out it has been smooth sailing and Im quite enjoying it. Although metadata success relies on proper media curation, but #Filebot has been super helpful there and worth its one-time cost.

If only there were #xbox and #ps5 clients for it; rn i use a low power linux box for playback on my TV.

  3. @midtsveen @jellyfin Ah hah! Yes!

Its been so long since I evaluated both #Jellyfin and Plex (and others), I can no longer provide any relevant comparison... but I was always wary of the whole "free but not really" model. Jellyfin has been good despite a somewhat painful (from what I recall) setup (and getting the right ffmpeg for encoding - blegh). Yeah, sometimes you have to finangle some metadata to get things to show up in the right spot, but that's what #FileBot is for.

  6. I've been using #FileBot (filebot.net/) to organize my media collection, and let me tell you, it's a great piece of software. Running Java anything on the Synology, though? A snail moving through molasses is faster.

  7. @Myphatself Do the Servarr products help with local files? I haven't used them but I gathered that they were mostly for acquiring *ahem* "alternatively sourced" content.

I use #FileBot for naming the files once I know which one is S01E01, and it works pretty well (despite some unique ideas about UI). It's figuring out that title_01.mkv -> S01E01 that's the tedious part, and Callsheet helps smooth that out a bit.
