On my new laptop I can't seem to open a new nemo window by clicking on the filemanager icon in the taskbar.
Instead it shows the "interesting" (?) information that two windows are already open. The only way to open another (third) window is to open one of the currently open windows select a directory and choose "open in new window".
This behaviour doesn't happen on my old laptop, Yes, same OS (Linux Mint 22.3) and same Desktop (cinnamon).
I wonder where the difference is between my laptops - except that the "new" one (from 2018 !) has the HWE kernel installed for whatever reason whatsoever plus updated (old laptop) vs. new installation (new laptop).

Das Aufklappen von Unterordnern mit einem kleinen Pfeil, wie man es von Dolphin kennt, lässt sich auch bei Nemo in den Einstellungen aktivieren. Finde ich ausgesprochen nützlich für Verschiebeaktionen:

Ich meinte das Aufklappen in der Listenansicht / rechte Seite. Das scheint mit #Nemo 6.x verschwunden zu sein. Ich habe bei mir Nemo 6.6 laufen. Weiß leider nicht mehr, welche Version vor dem Upgrade lief.
In #Caja - bei mir akt. 1.26.4 - ist es noch verfügbar. Aber Caja ist irgendwie leicht anders als Nemo. Ich hätte es gern in Nemo zurück!

Stavo salvando un file di Emacs ma avevo il focus sul file-manager.... e premendo

Ctrl + s

si è aperta una finestra di dialogo che mi chiede quali file selezionare, scrivendo testualmente in una finestrella di dialogo; chessò se scrivo ad esempio *.txt
Nemo selezione tutti i files txt nella directory.

Stra utile !

Instead of trying to fix (honestly impressive) fuckup, I decided to just reinstall #Arch and #DankLinux. It was a lot easier than the other options, and I wanted to do some different stuff this time anyway.

For instance, I did a minimal install (no desktop) with just a few tools by default, and then curled the dank installer. Wow does that thing work well, provided you manually install #QuickShell first (at least for me, it kept trying to install both the regular QuickShell and the hit version from the AUR.)

I also set up my favorite file manager (#Nemo), installed #Waterfox and #Helium, and did some other fun stuff.

Now I'm gonna see if I can get Dank working on MangoWM et all. Don't get me wrong, #Niri is gorgeous and easy to use. I'm just havin' fun.

I use #lmde7 and suddenly there are a lot of updates available. Normally that is no point of worrying. However, with the announcement of #linuxmint beta for the ubuntu-based platforms I wonder whether part of the beta versions of these other environments are really ready to install on #lmde7 ?
In particular new versions of almost all base applications like #cinnamon , mint-install, mint-backup, mintmenu, mintwelcome, all of #nemo , all xapps.
Is that a mistake or what is your experience after the update ?
