I'm not posting this because I expect forgiveness or reassurance. I simply wanted to acknowledge it, take responsibility for it, and let people know that I'm changing how I engage here.
From now on, I want to be more deliberate. If I like something, it'll be because I've taken the time to appreciate it. I also want to spend more time reading, commenting thoughtfully, and engaging with people rather than simply consuming what appears in my feed.

Looking back, I don't think that was a very intentional or respectful way to participate in a community built around real people sharing parts of themselves. A "like" should mean something, and mine had become almost automatic.

I've realised that I slipped into treating FetLife more like a kink and porn dispenser than a community. I was automatically liking almost every post containing nudity or kink, often within moments of it being posted, without really slowing down to engage with the person behind it

This is not only outing me on a public platform, but it also tells everyone where I might physically be on these two dates.
This is potentially putting me in very real danger. But I'm sure he'd insist that he's a nice guy.

So, I'm going way out of my comfort zone and have signed up for multiple events within the world of fetlife, all virtual events. The first one is a munch, just to get to know people and understand this world and how people generally are and hopefully, make friends in the process. That event is tomorrow night.
