Zullen we eens gaan kijken hoe we een Euronet kunnen maken, vrij van US en China invloeden? Scheelt een hoop ellende hier in Europa.

A regulation capping ATM withdrawal fees at €1.5 went into effect in #Greece on August 11. What's the reality today? One ATM charged €5.90, and another charged €3.49. The #Euronet ATM added the "Cash & Balance" scam on top of that.

Just tried to withdraw 3500 PLN from a #Euronet #ATM in Poland.
Machine kindly offered to “help” me by converting it to 874.96 CHF on the spot.

Such a good deal!

Except… my bank did it for 772.12 CHF instead.

Let me break that down for you:

Euronet rate: 4.02 PLN = 1 CHF
My bank's rate: 4.56 PLN = 1 CHF
Their markup: +13.3%
Actual scam in numbers: I would’ve paid 102.84 CHF more just for saying “yes.”

And the cherry on top?

They try to scare you with “The rate will not be guaranteed if you decline.”

No worries, Euronet — I’ll take my chances with someone who isn’t trying to rob me in daylight.

Bankomaten der Firma #Euronet sind ja bekannt für verschiedene Abzockpraktiken (Gebühren, Wechselkurse…) und man liest schon seit Jahren immer wieder Warnungen davor.

Is it so that if you tap “cash and balance” on an #Euronet ATM they will charge you extra for the balance inquiry? I am very distrusting about that company and always choose “other” and then just “cash withdrawal”.

Ich habe jetzt ausgiebig dieses und jenes im Netz recherchiert, gemailt, gedruckt usw usw.

Fazit: Geht alles ohne #aws #GoogleDNS, #Cloudfront usw usw.

UFW #Whitelist zu DE Providern völlig ausreichend.
/etc/hosts regelt den Rest...

@hey #euronet is a scam everywhere, not only in Poland.

Another example from an ATMs. They offer absurd amount of cash as default, like 1000, 2000PLN while when using PLN card it’s 100, 200 defaults.

Then they again offer to convert the currency, showing the rates PLN/EUR (0,56) while everyone uses EUR/PLN (4,50).

When declining they show big red banner to scare you telling your bank will rip you off (it won’t).

Shame on you #euronet

Wer keine Lust auf's #Internet hat und sich lieber auf #Euronet beschränken will, installiert sich #ipfire.

Alles was man braucht ist ein altgedienter Zweitrechner mit zwei Netzwerkanschlüssen.

Selbiger agiert dann als Hardwarefirewall, Router, DHCP.
