AWS had a billing glitch last week [1].
If it hit you, too, still consider tightening your budget alerts and setting up cost anomaly detection—as well as CloudWatch alarms for faster alerting.
Claude can be extremely helpful here, speeding up that process (especially with AWS CLI installed).
(For long-term readers, I’m still moving away from US tech. If of interest, for CDNs, I’m slowly landing on Serverspace 🇳🇱, and for AI, Xiaomi MiMo Code 🇨🇳 is the latest coding model I’m evaluating.)

My first Outline contribution shipped yesterday in v1.9.0: CloudFront support for signed attachment URLs (PR #12656).
I wrote it months ago to solve my own problem, the PR got merged, and then life happened and I stopped checking. Yesterday I opened the release notes and there it was, my handle under "New Contributors".
Small patch. Still counts. That's kind of the whole point of open source.

Offenbar macht man jetzt vermehrt auf #DID #DUT #didit und #dutgemacht (dämlichster Hashtag ever btw. - sorry).
Ich habe erstmal alle meine Webseiten zu AWS migriert. Warum?
- Funktioniert rock-solid (im Regelfall, Störungen gibt es in jedem System mal)
- Mit Cloudfront weltweites und einfach integrierbares CDN verfügbar
- Voll automatisiertes Infra Deployment z.B. mit Terraform
- sehr günstig
- Ich muss mich in Zeiten von automatisierten KI Angriffen nicht um die Sicherheit der darunterliegenden Infra kümmern.
- Falls nötig kann ich meine statischen Hugo Seiten jederzeit einfach woanders hin migrieren.Ich befürworte zwar die Souveränitätsbestrebungen Europas ausdrücklich, bin allerdings u.a. durch meine berufliche Erfahrung überzeugt, dass der Zug für Europa was u.a. Cloud angeht längst abgefahren ist (Stichwort: Wir diskutieren das jetzt erstmal im Detail bevor wir irgendwas machen).

@ExhibitExplorer after doing some investigation, it seems that it's not so much an API change as #DigitalNZ has either introduced #cloudfront or its settings have been tightened. If I do a query (with my API key) from my laptop, it works. The same query from my server gets blocked.
I've emailed them, hopefully they're able to resolve it. Based on the interactions I've had with them in the past they all seem nice and helpful people.

AWS has 200+ services. Most companies use about 15. The same ones show up in every project: EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudFront, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch.

Another evening with #aws and #cloudfront. Just worked with AI to update my #lambda that it’s include SHA-1 in public file list. Results below, dummy file there so it can be downloaded, also to check download speed. https://cdn.e-utp.net/public/. If someone will ask: what for? Just for fun and if I really need to publish some file to public over AWS I’ll just put the file on #s3 and magic will do the rest. 😎

As for that is require program to make such URLs that I can share with others, I’ve spent some time with AI and it’s done https://github.com/drixter/aws/blob/main/sign-url-for-cf.c of course no guarantees but it’s working. First approach was Python but this dependency hell make me crazy so I’ve asked AI to do in C. Works on #NetBSD 😎

@grutzifix Die auf dem Bild als Quelle angegebene Website bindet den Google-Tracker ein. Schon von daher scheinen die ziemlich plemplem zu sein. Der Inhalt der Seite wird über Server von #Cloudfront (Amazon) ausgeliefert, die sich in den USA befinden.
Aber auch wenn es diese technischen – ähm – Auffälligkeiten nicht gäbe, finde ich es nicht gut, zum Boykott gegen ein ganzes Land aufzurufen. Das ist nationalistisch und trifft auch die Menschen dort, die nicht Trump gewählt haben.
