Man, what a great snag today.

I’ve really been enjoying these Cherry Red CD box sets (Cut Me Deep, Scared To Get Happy), and this one may be my favorite one so far.

This covers a whole decade of #etheral / #coldwave / #darkwave music, and it’s beautifully curated and sequenced to perfection.

Some big names are here like The Cure, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Soft Cell and more, but it’s also got some KILLER songs by bands that I didn’t know that much about, like Invisible Limits, Twice A Man, and Museum Of Devotion to name a few.
It’s a phenomenal collection.

I’ve got three of these Cherry Red comps now, and I’ve got one more on hold for me down at my local shop called Cherry Stars Collide: Dream Pop, Shoegaze & Ethereal Rock 1986-1995 that I’ll be bringing home next.

I just spent over 6 hours doing Christmas shopping, and I’m like Ben Stiller in the movie Heavyweights after the fat kids lock him up.

I am a broken man.

So it’s time for an incredible #ambient #etheral album to help relax me.

I’ve long been a fan of this record, and when I first discovered it, it was solely because I saw the name Elizabeth Fraser on it. A woman who’s voice is OTHERWORLDLY and who’s work I already loved from The Cocteau Twins.

An incredible evening listen, and a record I’m glad to have an ‘86 pressing of, as all the reissues I’ve heard don’t sound very good.

Beautiful album. A lovely, glacial hug.

House Of Sleeping Beauties
1985 U.S. pressing

A wonderful, #etheral and #ambient album from Hawaii-born Lucia Hwong; which is very Blade Runner-y in some spots, and very Last Emperor in others.

It’s got such a cool mystical and Oriental vibe to it, but also has a few brief moments of intensity.

I’m not exactly where or when I got this; I’m guessing from some road trip somewhere in the states, or maybe when I was on tour? Because I certainly didn’t get it here.

Again, probably not a record for the general music listener, but I enjoy it a great deal.
