It's fun to see industry support for #avgeek events like this weekend's #Dorkfest / #LAXDorkfest2025. Many noticed Southwest's special livery planes showing up a lot. It wasn't a coincidence. Southwest COO Andrew Watterson attended and told us the airline scheduled those planes to come into LAX during Dorkfest for the avgeeks to gawk at. 😎 Later we heard Alaska also did that - but harder to spot since their Terminal 6 favors Runways 25R/L on the south side of the airport. #aviation #travel

I had a dream that Midwest Airlines came back, and even had their beautiful 717s in service. So we flew them to L.A. for #SpotLAX2025 and #DorkFest. They not only lost my bag but someone stole it and disabled the air tag. Also while we were gone the house flooded.
... I can't even have nice dreams anymore.

The last few stragglers have migrated back up to the roof of the H Hotel. We’re about to wrap up too. Another record breaking #Dorkfest and #SpotLAX2024 trip marching to a close.

Attending events like #Dorkfest and #SpotLAX2024 let me feed off of the passion of others. In doing so, I rekindle my #AvGeek. It’s the annual passion recharge I need.
Next month I’m doing a naturalist conference and will get to recharge that battery as well. -
#Dorkfest 2024 was a success. May post more photos later, but saw both the 747-8 (LH) and A380s (multiple), and got to climb inside a DHL 767-300. Photos are cropped because 3x zoom on my phone (native resolution on the tele lens) was actually a bit much for the wide-bodies due to being so close.

I’m not much of an #AvGeek anymore, but apparently still get SUPER excited at finagling trips for maximum fun and savings. Today I managed RT airfare for three to PHX for 36k Southwest points & $30 cash. That comes out to about $181 each. Huzzah! Johnsons to #SpotLAX2024!
