After years of insisting that it's not a new edition, that there will no longer be a new edition, that the new books are merely "revisions," D&D finally caves in and admits that the 2024 revision is really a 5.5e.
(and of course, they keep insisting "it's not a new edition!!!")
The kicker is their reasoning, "you guys have been all calling it 5.5e anyway, so it's a natural thing to do!" 😂

Hat sich jemand schon für D&D SRD v5.2 (2024 / 5.5E / das neue) die Innenseiten des Spielleiterschirms gebaut?
Was habt ihr denn da so draufstehen?
Ich habe den Korpus fertig, also 4 schwarze Kartons mit schwarzem Gewebeband aneinandergeklebt. Außen wird entweder bemalt (weißer Edding) oder Bilder aufgeklebt. Aber welches Motiv weiß ich immer noch nicht. Bin da sehr unentschlossen.
Die Innenseite werde ich mit wiederverwendbaren Klebestreifen ausstatten. Da kann ich dann die Inhalte tauschen, das hält ungefähr wie ein Post-it.

Ich habe viel zu lange gebraucht, um zu verstehen, wie Herausforderungsgrad (HG) (engl. challenge rating, CR) von Monstern funktioniert.
Und dann ist der auch noch vergleichsweise ungenau und man kann leicht, mittel und schwer nicht gut einschätzen.
Der HG ist das durchschnittliche Spielerlevel bei einer Gruppengröße von 4.
D. h. wenn es 3 Spieler sind, muss man schon komisch rumrechnen. Ich habe Informatik studiert und mir ist das schon zu doof. Muss also besser gehen...
Die einfachste Variante, die ich gefunden habe ist anhand dieser Tabelle im SRD Seite 202:

Dann schaut man für jeden Spieler in die Tabelle und sucht sich die XP für das jeweilige Level raus.
Beispiel: Drei Spieler, normaler Grad:
Ein Spieler hat Level 3 (225 XP), einer 4 (375 XP) und einer 5 (750 XP).Die Summe davon ist 1250 XP. Und nun sucht man sich solange Monster aus, bis man die 1250 XP zusammen hat. Meinetwegen einen Elefanten (1100 XP) und einen Schwarm Insekten (100 XP).
Fertig. Man hat auch ein Gefühl dafür ob es Richtung leicht oder schwer geht.
Man muss ja aus einer Mücke keinen Elefanten machen. (Tut mir leid, aber der musste sein... 😜 )

Experimenting with using tab groups to organize my encounters for tonight's Greyhawk '76 campaign.
All the monsters and NPCs are on D&D Beyond, and tonight's encounters have seven or so entries. That's a lot of tabs to be switching between (especially when you add in all the other tabs I'll open in game). #Greyhawk #GamePrep #DMPrep #DnD2024 #DnD5e
