I come relatively late to the subject of Remote Development Environments (also known as Cloud Development Environments). The main reason is that I haven’t worked in a development team for over six years. However, I’m now working for Loft Labs, and we have a RDE product: #DevPod. I wanted to understand our value proposition as I’ll be at @fosdem operating the DevPod booth.

I stumbled upon #Coder, which is a #DevContainer platform you can use in your own computer (much like #DevPod).

I'm going to give it a spin to see if I can connect remotely to a DevContainer on another computer. It "should" work, since it's made for this type of scenarios, unlike DevPod which focuses on local.

By the way, if you have problems with connecting a JetBrains app to a DevContainer, like "the host is not found", try going to the settings and changing SSH parsing to "legacy"

I got an early demo of #DevPod (https://devpod.sh/) from #Loft the other week and it looks pretty interesting. I haven't had time to play with it myself (ugh, there's never enough time) but I keep meaning to.
