Daggerfall Unity is amazing. How it was redone and the modding system that was added. I'm impressed.
On the other hand, there are a lot of things that make it hard for me to enjoy.
"Assassins will come to my house, save me!" Of course she I wont tell me where the house is, so I spent half an hour checking all the houses to find it... 😅
"Only XY from Z can heal me." No one knows XY in the town of Z. 😤
"My child is kidnapped. Free him from dungeon C!" Dungeon C was demo-only content, doesn't exist in the game. 🤣
Hours wasted because basic info are missing... 🤦
The dugeoneering and fighting works well, and all of the remade things are decent, but sadly the game's core principles give me more frustration than enjoyment. I recommend it only to gamers with a lot of time.

Eigentlich müsse man meinen, dass #Daggerfall im Leben nicht auf dem #SteamDeck funktioniert, aber tut es, dank #DaggerfallUnity. Auch wenn die Steuerung gewöhnungsbedürftig ist.

So yeah... #DaggerfallUnity for Android does work and does support joysticks, but I need to find a completely different gamepad layout that will make sense and will allow me to jump, run a activate objects so I can get out of the first dungeon 😂

Jus spent three hours setting up DOS version of #Daggerfall on Android with gamepad. If it wasn't for the weapon swing mechanic, it would actually work just fine...
And then I found out there's a port of #DaggerfallUnity which has a toggle for disabling just that 😂. I wonder how it will run on my Motorola G84 🤔

Apparently an #Android version of #DaggerfallUnity just released recently.
So it looks like mod capable Daggerfall will be available on your cell phone!

Ce soir le Projet French Daggerfall, qui a pour ambition de traduire intégralement la version vanilla de #Daggerfall, est officiellement arrêté. Lancé en février 2000 il traduit 98% du jeu d'origine, et vu la manière dont celui-ci est codé, on ne fera jamais mieux. Merci à Aggelon, Ferital, Ancestral Ghost, Daneel53 et les autres qui ont porté le projet toutes ces années !

New instance, same #introduction
Hi I'm Pierre, changed from Lego geek to computer geek at 11 when I touched a computer; they weren't that common in '80.
Studied computing at uni, became software #developer. Worked in several #startups, but not only.
Switched main OS to #linux in 1996. From time to time I contribute to #freesoftware projects, last to date being #DaggerfallUnity.
I enjoy #jazz #music (sometimes play #drums, but I need to replace my aging kit now), or #photography #nature. -
