…and then Faisal avoid answering the question (while sounding like he was somewhat acting as a government spokesperson).
It deserves an answer and it’s the kind of question #BBCnews *should* be on top of.

Cancelling the northern leg of #HS2 really is a massive "fuck you, suckers!" to all those voters in the Red Wall seats who believed the promises about "levelling up" and voted Tory.
I'm sure it must be massively satisfying to #Sunak to show his contempt for people who were that easily tricked, but I can't help thinking it's not a great electoral strategy.

Cancel HS2 and announce massive uncosted infrastructure in The North before fucking off to opposition, then Labour are forced to cancel those expensive upgrades in favour of expensive HS2 thus pissing every northerner outside Manchester. #cpc23 Tories are cunts, and Labour are going to have to call this out for what shithousery it is.
