I answered a question this morning that I guess I should have known the answer to. No, you cannot make egg custard in an air fryer.
I guess I am forced to have ice cream for breakfast.

Ever since my kid bought me a bamboo steamer for Xmas, I've been reading tons of recipes & watching scads of videos. I just wanted to make some authentic shrimp or pork buns. I finally gathered the courage to make pork buns today. Or tried to. The filling was fine, & even though I usually make some pretty great bread, the wrappers I made can only be described as steamed semi-breadlike school paste — in taste and substance. Definitely not light & fluffy.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you left a foil-wrapped baked potato in the oven for too long?
Wonder no more, because I have tested this for you and can answer this question!
The potato will still be edible, and the inside will actually be really delicious! But the name jacket potato takes on a whole new life, because the skin of the potato becomes thick and hard like leather. It’s almost like a potato jerky.
If you have a dog, this might be your dog’s favourite day because it turns out that my dog LOVED her potato jerky while I loved my baked potato.

Using tortilla as replacement for pie crust in our quiche was a fail. Somehow I forgot the pie shell in the grocery list this morning, and I wasn't going back.
Also didn't have a 10" tortilla wrap to use, so we used multiple. Egg got underneath, and this was the result.
Oh well. Was still tasty.

Earlier, I saw that Kid2 had left the chocolate chip dough out and I thought, hmm, it's been out a while, I wonder if I should throw it away? But then I thought, it's not like it's been hot weather. The dough should be fine! Might as well bake it!
So I made four biscuits and popped them in the oven, went into the lounge room and promptly forgot all about them until later when I came back into the kitchen and smelt burnt biscuits.
So instead of wasting them by throwing out the raw dough, I wasted a bunch of energy and threw out cooked biscuits instead.

Past me was more organised than present me. I’ve just spent the last 20 minutes cooking some rice to have with the curry I’d defrosted. Only to realise I’d frozen a portion of rice with it. 🙄 #cookingFail

The recipe in question is:
4C flour
1tsp salt
2tsp sugar
1tsp baking powder
err 3/4 tsp yeast
2tbsp oil
4tbsp yogurt
1 cup milkI'm a bit worried that the milk and yogurt is going to cause the breadcrumbs to burn or spoil.

So, I made jacket potatoes in my breadmaker beore going off to North Wales the week before last. Don't ask me how long before. I have no idea! What I do know is I went to make bread today only to be greeted by rather furry, liquidy potatoes in my breadmaker! :blobcat0_0: #CookingFail #MemoryFail

I spent 2 hours making soup (mostly prep). Broccoli, baby spinach, leeks, Yukon gold potatoes ... simmered, then liquified w/an immersion blender. A little sharp cheddar, a little bit of sour cream. Shoulda been great. No, dear reader, it sucked. It sucked big time. It tasted weird and not at all of broccoli. Or even leeks. I hate throwing food away. Might be crazy, but I'm gonna put it in the fridge & see if the flavor changes to something edible.

I call it “Earthworm in the garden.” (Southern live oak noodle) Quercus virginiana
In an effort to keep a composite noodle from breaking, I wound up with noodles that look like earthworms. Oops. 🥹🤣
In my defense, it ended up tasting pretty good.

Too much curry in the soup, no coconut milk to make it milder. No apples to add to the muffins. We struggle onward anyhow.

My try to roll cabbage in thin slices of Christmas ham (discount find) and deep fry it failed spectacularly. Spec-tac-u-larly. I ended up mixing the batter, the panko, the cabbage, and the ham together and fried ~croquettes instead. They're kind of a weird Christmas lembas - eat one and it'll keep you going through the entire Christmas.
