Little fun challenge!
First attempt at writing the biáng character, which is a type of noodle in Shaanxi cuisine. Deemed the most complex "genuine" Chinese character with its 58 strokes. Full of flaws but not too bad for a first I guess.
Next challenge: an "artistic" character made of 172 strokes. Wish me luck!#Chinese #ChineseCharacter #hanzi #calligraphy #ChineseCalligraphy #汉字 #书法 #ink

Another older rabbit print, I made this linocut as part of my Chinese zodiac series. I wanted the rabbit to appear bathed in moonlight to allude to the myth of the moon rabbit, companion of Chang’e the moon goddess, continually pounding the elixir of life with mortar and pestle.

Tsingtao “青島” beer 🍺😋
“青島” mean Green Island is Chinese.
But in Japanese, “青島” would mean Blue Island 🤔 Interestingly, we often say “blue” for lush green plants, and the green traffic light is also “blue” 😉although we know the traffic light is actually “green”😏 -

Today I think I finally came up with a way really remember how to write the #ChineseCharacter 立 [li4] which means to stand. It's also used as a component in some other characters such as 章 [zhang1] and 童 [tong2].
I can recognize it, but previously would often forget how to write it. The original character from thousands of years ago looks like a man standing. But the current current form of the character is harder for me to visualize. So I came up with a story: it's a man's head, ... -

I created a function in #Python to check if a character is a #ChineseCharacter
import re
def check_if_char_is_chinese_char(char):
if re.search(r'[\u4e00-\u9fff]+', char):
return True
else:
return FalseE.g. passing in '我' will return True, 'Z' False

I've just completed a tool, using some open source software, for showing #chinesecharacter #animations. I've spent a lot of time making it. This allows you to search for the animations of 1 or many characters at the same time. Feedback would be appreciated
