It’s snowing again in western Nevada. Chains are required just about everywhere as there’s now new snow on top of old ice/snow and very cold temperatures. We still had about a foot of snow already on the ground.

A day after the big New Year's Eve storm. Off in the distance black cattle are standing in the snow next to a farmhouse. We already have so much snow and several more Atmospheric River storms are forecasted this week and into the future. It will take a while to dig out from all of this.

In Gardnerville at the Sierra foothills, the rain is now turning to snow and the temperature is dropping. Centerville between Hwy 88 and Foothill is closed due to flooding. Mottsville was still open, but the flooded fields are approaching the roadway. There has been snow on the ground for over a week, but the last few days have been freezing fog, so now the trees are coated white with frost. Pine trees look like they’ve been flocked. Temperature this morning was 10 degrees, and we only got up to 30 during the day.

We have been getting ice fog early in the day and in lower elevations in the Carson Valley. the las few days. Temps ranged between 9–15 degrees. Here it is lurking a bit.
