I was 10 or so, loved UMS maps in #StarCraf #Broodwar and played on our town-wide LAN network crushing everyone with probably the first cheese I stumbled on in my life. That first OP zergling hero you get at 100 kills, when positioned just right would demolish swarms of enemy zerglings, basically locking anyone I fought from scoring points and leaving them without a counter.

AmiSC 0.8.0: StarCraft avanza en Amiga Classic
AmiSC continúa su desarrollo con la versión 0.8.0, que incorpora las campañas de StarCraft y su expansión Brood War para Amiga 68k. Esta adaptación ejecuta el juego de forma nativa, sin emular la versión de PC.
La actualización añade los briefings y objetivos de las misiones, mejoras en las partidas guardadas y la posibilidad de reiniciar misiones. También introduce ajustes en la interfaz y corrige varios errores detectados durante las pruebas con un Amiga 1200 real.
Para ejecutarlo se necesita AmigaOS 3.0 o superior, un procesador 68020 como mínimo y gráficos AGA o una tarjeta compatible con RTG/Picasso96. No requiere FPU. El consumo de memoria gráfica ronda los 20 MB, mientras que los archivos del juego ocupan entre 250 y 620 MB. Para conseguir un rendimiento más satisfactorio, se recomienda un 68060 o superior con AGA, o un 68040 rápido con RTG.
El proyecto sigue en fase alfa: la inteligencia artificial está incompleta, no dispone de multijugador y faltan las voces y las secuencias cinematográficas originales. Además, no se han probado todas las misiones hasta el final.
AmiSC requiere los archivos originales de StarCraft, que no están incluidos en la descarga. La versión 0.8.0 y sus instrucciones están disponibles en el repositorio oficial de GitHub.

The history of #starcraft as an esport is kinda crazy. Never meant to be played competitively (esports weren't a thing before #broodwar). Got big and put on TV in SK. Blizzard tried to sue for IP theft. SK created gov body to regulate/protect. Now still being played and streamed with consistent 50-100k viewers for the English version. Latest league with a player who first played as a pro in 2007, and nearly every year until now getting into a final this week, 18 years later.

I will soon play #StarCraft #BroodWar with @SeaFury and maybe others (I'm really bad at the game).
What i find crazy is that I still remember my #BattleNet password, even though I was #boycott`ing #Blizzard since they decided to ban a professional player for him flashing #FreeHongKong motto as he won the title (and other stories).
#StarCraft2 was more than a game for me, that's for sure.
