  5. I just realised I only have one piece of clothing with PR / Taíno (?) stuff on it.
I don't really want to just buy random new shit tho, but I also don't want to add to misconceptions either.

So... I kinda want to design a shirt, I guess?
Or booty shorts obv, but good fucking luck finding anything short enough on a random print-on-demand apparel website.

Any ideas / points to avoid?
The obvious one would be the Coquí, especially since autistics and queers sometimes gravitate towards frogs.
I prefer fungus and plants tho, myself.

[Update: I forgot hashtags were a thing.]

  21. On Nov 19, 1493—532 years ago today—Columbus “discovered” Borikén (Puerto Rico), a place already thriving with Taíno life and culture. The conquistadors strutted in like gods, peddling Jesus and immortality while terrorizing the people. The Taíno had questions. So they tested the myth on Diego Salcedo—drowned the motherfucker and waited three days. When he turned blue instead of resurrecting, they said “fuck this” and rose up, marking the first Indigenous uprising in the "Americas."

Don’t celebrate the colonists. Celebrate the resistance.

    Meet the 2024-2026 #NDN #Changemakers

    By Jordynn Paz • March 5, 2025

"In October, NDN Collective announced the recipients of the 2024/26 Changemaker Fellowship, a cohort of 21 #Indigenous leaders from throughout #TurtleIsland, Islands of #Hawaii, #Borikén / #PuertoRico, the U.S. territories of American #Samoa, #Guam, the Northern #Mariana Islands, and the U.S. #VirginIslands. These incredible fellows are transforming their communities, defending Indigenous lands and waters, developing solutions for #regenerative and #sustainable futures, and revitalizing #IndigenousLanguages, #governance, #ceremonies and ways of being.

"We are honored to support the important and necessary work of each of these changemakers through this two-year fellowship program. With the NDN Changemaker Fellowship, individuals will focus on education, skill building, networking, community building, theory of change mapping, and mentorship."

We've had weeks of heavy rain with more to come. The ground is over saturated and rivers are overflowing and causing floods. There have been very few deaths on the island so far although several people have been reported missing.

Here is more info on the construction process that's just been halted. Activists known as Playas Pa' Pueblo (beaches for the people) are setting up camp in order to further stop any construction from going forward.

Beaches are considered public land, but many private resorts will block access to that public beach in order to turn a public beach into a de facto private beach (usually at the cost to the fragile environment)

    Boosts appreciated
