Abelardo de la Espriella ordena reforzar seguridad de magistrados de la Corte Suprema tras amenazas

El presidente de Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella, ordenó reforzar la seguridad de magistrados de la Corte Suprema tras una alerta relacionada con el caso de Kiko Gómez y advirtió que las amenazas contra jueces tendrán consecuencias.

El presidente Abelardo de la Espriella ordenó reforzar de inmediato la seguridad de los magistrados de la Sala de Casación Penal de la Corte Suprema de Justicia, luego de que integrantes de esa corporación manifestaran preocupación por posibles riesgos contra ellos y sus familias.

El mandatario instruyó a la Policía Nacional de Colombia y a la Unidad Nacional de Protección (UNP) para adoptar las medidas necesarias, tras una alerta presentada por el magistrado José Joaquín Urbano Martínez, relacionada con el proceso contra el exgobernador de La Guajira Juan Francisco Gómez Cerchar, conocido como Kiko Gómez.

La advertencia ocurrió después de que la Sala Penal solicitara revisar y reforzar la protección de sus integrantes. El caso también está relacionado con un impacto de bala localizado en una oficina de la Procuraduría General de la Nación en Bogotá, hecho que permanece bajo investigación.

De la Espriella respalda a la Corte Suprema

A través de su cuenta de X, Abelardo de la Espriella informó que recibió la preocupación expresada por los magistrados y aseguró que las instituciones judiciales contarán con protección del Estado.

El presidente fijó además una postura de respaldo a la Sala Penal: afirmó que cualquier intento de amenazar, intimidar o presionar a magistrados o jueces tendrá consecuencias legales.

“Lo que es con la Sala Penal de la Corte es conmigo. Quien se mete con la Corte, se mete con el Presidente de la República”, escribió el mandatario.

Caso Kiko Gómez, en el centro de la alerta

La preocupación de los magistrados está vinculada con actuaciones judiciales contra Juan Francisco Gómez Cerchar, exgobernador de La Guajira, quien fue condenado en abril de 2026 por la Sala de Casación Penal a 31 años y ocho meses de prisión por homicidio agravado.

El magistrado José Joaquín Urbano Martínez comunicó el 2 de septiembre al presidente de la Sala Penal, Carlos Roberto Solórzano Garavito, que existían circunstancias que podían comprometer la seguridad de funcionarios relacionados con el proceso y solicitó informar a las autoridades encargadas de la protección.

De acuerdo con reportes sobre el caso, la alerta también tomó en cuenta un proyectil que impactó una ventana de la oficina del procurador delegado Pedro Luis Bonilla, quien participa, junto con el jefe de la Procuraduría, en actuaciones relacionadas con el expediente. Las autoridades investigan el origen del disparo y a sus posibles responsables. –sn–
