Nací el 3 de octubre de 1983.

Tenía 10 años cuando asesinaron a Andrés Escobar por un autogol.

No soy paisa. No soy hincha de Nacional. Y aun así, más de treinta años después, esa historia me sigue doliendo.

Tal vez porque crecí en una Colombia donde las noticias hablaban de bombas, secuestros, magnicidios y narcotráfico. Tenía 6 años cuando mataron a Luis Carlos Galán, 9 cuando murió Pablo Escobar y 10 cuando asesinaron a Andrés Escobar.

Desde aquel día empecé a mirar con otros ojos el fútbol colombiano. No dejé de admirar el buen fútbol. Sigo admirando el talento, la inteligencia y la belleza de una jugada bien hecha. Lo que dejé de admirar fue el fanatismo.

Porque una cosa es disfrutar un deporte y otra convertirlo en una religión tribal.

Por eso hace años le digo “Secreción BOBOmbia”. No por odio al país, sino por cansancio de ver cómo desperdicia una y otra vez su inteligencia, su talento y su memoria en fanatismos inútiles. Porque aquí todo termina convertido en una barra brava: la política, el fútbol, la religión y ahora hasta las redes ‘sociales’.

Quizás soy obsoleto. Quizás caduco. Quizás un lagrimón.

Pero nunca he podido olvidar que en este país mataron a un hombre por un error en una cancha.

Y quizás por eso tampoco me he tragado jamás los cuentos de caudillos, mesías ni salvadores políticos. He visto pasar gobiernos, discursos, campañas, fanáticos y sectarios de todos los colores. Demasiadas veces la multitud termina comportándose igual; solo cambia la camiseta.

Algunas heridas no son de fútbol.

Son de país.

Y desde el 2 de julio de 1994 entendí que el problema nunca fueron once tipos pateando un balón.

El problema siempre fueron los fanáticos que creen que una camiseta, una bandera o un político valen más que una vida.
