Als Teenie war ich einfach zu hochkultur-überangepasst (wahrscheinlich ganz typisch für Bildungsaufsteiger), deswegen bin ich noch nicht mal auf die Idee gekommen, Fan Art zu machen. Nun, Jahrzehnte Erfahrung mit diesem Kultur-Ding später, bin ich alt genug dafür. Hier meine Fan Art zu dem sehr tollen #Fantasy #Roman #TheUnbalancing von #RBLemberg , den ich gerade gelesen habe. Das Universum dort heißt das #birdverse , die Schöpfungsgöttin ist Bird.

Extremely excited that Spouseperson @rblemberg is a Le Guin prize finalist!!
Doubly so that it is the Birdverse short story collection from Fairwood, I feel like this book has gone a bit underappreciated with RB's other books being out this year, BUT IT IS SO GOOD and I am so happy.

A perception is that #Mastodon is more fractured ... that communities haven't matured to the extent that enables a less intentional user to sense their 'connectedness.'
Example: Here, my feed is much more filtered here than it was in the #birdverse.
That's either a good thing or leaves one with a sense of isolation.
Not seeing the yuck, affects some folk's confidence - "What am I missing." So they wander back to peek, and stay.

The issue is pandering to the lowest common denominator. The UX is designed for #doomscrolling entertainment and paid intercept conversion.
#Birdverse monetized it. Cynicism weaponized it. Then ChatGPT came along and camouflaged originality.
Discourse on centralized platforms? Ended in '22. Creators will abandon / be free of the economic feudalism that is commercial social media.
#mastodon doesn't pander to the LCD. (...yet.)

@Meldilorn So true...unfortunately many of those still left in the #birdverse seem to prefer clinging to the wreckage there rather than risk the leap into the next universe which we have both made. But then, like you, I remember Malacandra and Meldilorn. And Perelandra too...

Popped in today. Surprised that trolls were engaging with tweets I sent, well... let's just say not recently. Like, a while ago.
What's up with that? are folks #twitter has re-admitted busy searching hashtags to look for confrontation? Doom scrolling old threads?Blocking them seems futile.

In looking for mobile clients for Mastodon, I was surprised many had not been updated in a year. Tooot seemed to be the exception, and I’m loving it so far. It feels a little quirky, but I’m realizing it’s a good reflection of the platform ☺️
I also suspect that the ongoing implosion of the #birdverse and mass exodus here may drive the devs to rev their apps — that can only be a win for us
