[18:53] BIMM staff strike resolved as works vote to accept deal

A dispute that led to teachers at BIMM music college striking for several days earlier this month has been resolved with workers voting - "by a massive majority" according to their union - to accept a deal.

One of my kids is making signs to protest this morning in solidarity with their lecturers in the #BIMM music school in Dublin.

Neoliberalism kicking in as they've begun lunatic plans to cut one-third of lecturer jobs and force all lecturers to reapply for their jobs on lower wages.

Background: BIMM was acquired by Intermediate Capital Group in 2020 who've begun to transform it from a vibrant city-centre cultural hub to a sweated degree mill.

On Tuesday I got to hang with my old friend Guy Pratt when he came into BIMM to give a masterclass looking at his classic bass part on Madonna's Like A Prayer. Great hang, killer masterclass.

Super fun afternoon covering a very late notice performance class at BIMM. I absolutely love helping bands refine their vision for their music. When helping music students, it's so important to understand their intentions and help guide them towards those, rather than dumping your own taste on them. Way too many tutors act like record producers...
