You can save time as well as lower the risk of theft by bringing your (cargo) bike into big box stores instead of locking up outside. However, expect to then lose all of that saved time when the guy at the checkout wants to excitedly tell you about his mountainbike build that used the same motor you have (in my case, a Bafang #BBS02). #BikeTooter

@julescelt01 I installed a #Bafang #BBS02 mid-drive kit from #LunaCycle a couple years ago on a beach cruiser, and I've been very happy with it. It was super easy, and the 52v battery makes tons of power. I recommend getting the shift sensor which cuts the power when you shift gears.

#EBike/electronics Q: I got a light control module (LCM) for a #bafang #bbs02 that ties into the main harness and provides 2 wires for a rear light (which works with a wide variety of light voltages, but I'm using it at 6V), and a single wire for a brake light trigger. The voltage on the LCM brake trigger wire sits at 1.56V, & jumps to 3.3V when you depress a brake lever.
My rear light has 2 wires (+/-) for the brake light trigger. I connect positive to LCMโs brake trigger wire, & get nothing..

Today another โค๏ธ for DIY Bafang mid-drive e-bike conversions.
For fun I bought the cheapest foldable bike from Amazon (*many* flaws but โฌ190) and put a 750W #Bafang motor in it. It was, indeed, fun, but also downright dangerous (poor brakes, etc.).
I just reprogrammed the motor with a special USB cable and my laptop to halve the power. The bike will do *many* trips to the shops on that battery now!
Next: a last-year's model Decathlon bike for touring.

I do have a gear shift sensor for the motor that briefly turns off motor power when I shift. I've heard mixed reviews about the #Alfine 8 - people saying they've ridden it thousands of km with #bafang mid-drive motors, others saying they killed it. But one of the cargo bikes I bought has a bafang mid-drive (#BBSHD, so more power/torque than the #BBS02) and a dead #Enviolo hub (N330, so not the burlier Enviolo Heavy Duty hub that I'd likely get).
Curious to hear from anyone who uses both hubs.

I don't think I've posted a full pic yet of my #Yuba #Kombi with #Bafang #BBS02 750W mid-drive motor installed. It's got a 48V 12Ah battery from #UnitPowerPack installed (form factor: #Hailong G56). So far I've ridden 45mi and the battery is at roughly 50%, so I'm expecting a comfortable range of 65-70mi per charge. #BikeTooter #ebike

I ordered a #TSDZ2 programming cable (https://cycles.eco/products/tsdz2-motor-firmware-programming-cable-with-6ft-usb-extension). I really don't like the default settings and motor is noisy. After getting the #BBSHD (which either Luna or the prior owners had programmed with fantastic settings) and the #BBS02 (which came with stock settings that were pretty bad, but I reprogrammed with the #bafang programming cable and now it's almost as good as the BBSHD), I've realized that replacing the TSDZ2 firmware is probably going to be a huge difference.

I found a 20% off coupon that results in a #BBS02 kit (without a battery) costing only $350. I'm extremely tempted to get it for my remaining acoustic cargo bike, but I need to figure out the battery first. Mostly limited by size and if I get a smaller (bottle) battery, whether 10.5A will be enough. ๐
