A big fuck you to #Canyon, #Bicycle manufacturer AND #Shimano.
Canyon, for fancy ass 3 part headlight integrated handlebars on Commuter. It's fuckin' impossible to disassemble it after some without inducing blunt force trauma...
Shimano, for non-opening clamps on #Alfine trigger shifters...
Had to take the grip off, take right handlebar off, take brake caliper off without breaking the line. Then had to pull out right handlebar which at this point has welded itself to the stem...
FUUUUCK!

Back in 2017 I bought a #Surly #Straggler frameset. My plan was to lace a #Shimano #Alfine 11 speed #internalGearHub, and combine it with an #FSA Metropolis two-speed internal gear crank. I bought the components, I even got these cool #Jtek barend shifters. But then I lost steam and never put them together. It's just been sitting in my garage ever since.

Während dem Warten auf die Montage des neuen Hinterreifen am Brompton bin ich nebenan bei #FlincCycles https://flinccycles.com/de deren 20" #Cargobike probegefahren. Gefällt sehr, nur ist der Lenker (in der höchsten Position wegen meiner 10% kürzeren Arme) bei 20kg Last vorne drauf dann doch recht am wobbeln, vor allem beim einhändig Abbiegen. Aber ansonsten ist's auch mit Beladung angenehm flink mit der 11-Gang #Alfine.
Und die Baustellenabsperrungen vor dem Laden stimmten mit "WELO" auch fast.

@YakyuNightOwl @ai6yr I recall someone asking on a bike forum whether the #Shimano #Alfine hubs last as long as #SturmeyArcher ones and the answer was basically "we don't know yet. Alfine has only been out 20 years and there are plenty of Sturmeys from the 1930s still going"

Mal was in eigener Sache: Vermutlich am Wochenende zwischen 27. und 29.9.24 wurde in #Kiel um den #Blücherplatz ein mit einem Faltschloss am Metallzaun festgeschlossenes älteres #Stevens #Roadflyer in blau-grau-metallic #gestohlen. Mit #Alfine 8Gang-Nabe, #SON-Frontleuchte in Schwarz, #Brooks Cambium in rötlich. Anzeige geht noch raus. Hinweise gerne an mich falls es wer irgendwo sieht 🙏 . Das Rad ist von 2007, aber war mir noch viel wert. Im Gegensatz zum Photo sind aktuell ein schwarzes 1fach Alfine-Kettenblatt, kantige schwarze SKS-Schutzbleche, eine toplight-flat-plus-Rückleuchte, eine messingfarbene Brave Copenhagen-Klingel, und ein Brooks-Cambium (d.h. kein Leder-) Sattel verbaut. #Fahrraddiebstahl #Treckingrad

I do have a gear shift sensor for the motor that briefly turns off motor power when I shift. I've heard mixed reviews about the #Alfine 8 - people saying they've ridden it thousands of km with #bafang mid-drive motors, others saying they killed it. But one of the cargo bikes I bought has a bafang mid-drive (#BBSHD, so more power/torque than the #BBS02) and a dead #Enviolo hub (N330, so not the burlier Enviolo Heavy Duty hub that I'd likely get).
Curious to hear from anyone who uses both hubs.

I hate derailleurs very much.
For my own bikes, I've always used fixed gear bikes or three speed sturmey-archer hubs. For the family cargo bikes, NuVinci/Enviolo hubs (with twist shifters).
My Yuba Kombi has a 9-speed cassette/derailleur with trigger shifter. I love the shifter, but hate the derailleur.
So I'm wondering if I just get another #Enviolo (expensive, heavy, twist shifter) or try out a Shimano #Alfine 8 (cheaper, lighter, trigger shifter)? Complicating factor being the BBS02 motor.

@ordinoides I am cylćling before I even went to school, ever sinde daily...
I am what we call here #teamchain and I wax those.
So if you are looking for a low maintainance bike, I would recommend a #rohloff or even better a #pinion gear drive with a belt. Shimanos #Nexus or #Alfine would work fine, too but nothing beats the quality of made in Germany.
(cars and economic responsibility, waste of resources, pollution in the name of economic growth are a less pleasant, I know) -
@fuesstest @ilanti irgendwie sehe ich gerade nicht, um welchen Tröt es hier gegangen ist. #peertube wäre sicher auch eine Möglichkeit, die letzten 2 Tage habe ich damit verbracht meinen #Videoschnitt PC wieder davon zu überzeugen, seine Arbeit wieder aufzunehmen und mein Video über #Alfine #Wartung publizieren zu können.
Ja, ich bin nächste Woche sicher dabei, ich habe glücklicherweise Frühschicht... -

The #Enviolo hub gears in my cargo bike gave up (it is ok, it was rated for 20k km, I did around 25) and I managed to set up myself a new wheel with #shimano #alfine 8 gears internal hub. By far the most ambitious #bikeRepair I ever did. Just rode fist 10 km with it, nothing exploded, I am super happy with the change.

By far the most ambitious #bikeRepair I ever did. Just rode fist 10 km with it, nothing exploded, I am super happy with the change.

22 Zähne sind besser als 20! Das neue #Ritzel auf Hinterrad macht es mit dem #Fahrrad am Hügel etwas leichter. Vorher war die Übersetzung für die #Alfine 11 viel zu lang!
