Tasting notes: low, slow, blue, rhodes, moments of implied gospel chord transitions, wet frog sounds, scratchpad jam, tried to make drums slow and simple enough that the repeating pattern wasn't noticeable, played live, need an extra hand to mess with more stuff. Wanders off.

First time logging back into soundcloud since 2020...I think I stopped posting there because I was about to run out space...might have got annoyed at other stuff, not sure.

I'm messing around with music/art this morning. Over on my music alt @homophony I've been exploring #funkwhale for sharing music on the #fediverse.

Not sure how long I'm going to keep this up. But, the tracks are calling out for some art. I think I will do something with #generativeart today, as an excuse to play around with #funkwhale look/feel and give the tracks flair

Among other issues, my #funkwhale account was giving a spinning wheel for users that are not logged in. This turned out to be a setting, and I needed to turn off "API requires authentication".
Which I think means anyone should be able to view and play this playlist of #BasementTapes? If any lovely listener out there without a funkwhale account can access and listen, and I'd bee curious to know if it worked!

Posted a bunch of #BasementTapes tracks on this feed yesterday. Experimenting with "tasting notes" commentary for each, and if I can remember the gear, that too.
Attempting #funkwhale this morning. Mainly looking for a lightweight music server (with activitypub) to share playlists of tracks, maybe #funkwhale is it, will find out.

This is as fresh from my #BasementTapes as it comes :) No post besides a quick normalization to get the volume OK. I love how recording to tape squishes instead of clips.
It's a one-shot jam from a year ago, all mistakes (happy accidents) pristinely preserved.
Need to work out a better bouncing system though, too much clutter going on down here.

Last year Hurricane Ida flooded my synth room real good, like a foot of water. I was running up and down the stairs saving synths, and unplugging things, and thankfully not getting electrocuted.
Fortunately losses were minimal, but it's taken almost a year to get back to a functional studio.
And now we're getting a tropical storm thing tonight...ugh, fingers crossed we stay dry.
In the meantime, gonna bounce at least one #synth thing to share from my #BasementTapes

As I try to convince myself to get back into the music playing zone, I remembered most of the new things I recorded are on tape. My neighbor gifted me a wonky cassette recorder, and it's fun recording to tape for the squish. In between voting and work, will try to bounce some of those tapes today #BasementTapes
