I do wonder how Croatians feel about "Camino".
I don't think there was ever a historical Spanish connection in Dubrovnik, Croatia, vis-a-vis the Byzantine, Venetian, and Austrian(-Hungarian) connections.
("Camino", of course, is merely a Spanish word for "road" or "way".
The Croatian word is "put", pronounced like its English homonym.)

By the way, there is another city just on the opposite side of the Balkan Peninsula, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also over-exploited for tourism: Nesebar, Bulgaria.
It is at almost the same latitude on the west Black Sea coast, more than a thousand years older (an ancient Greek colony), and with a picturesque old part on a near-insular small peninsula.
