⬆️ #India rejected #Hindutva #ReligiousNationalism and #Modi failed to get even a simple majority while dreaming of a landslide victory.

Modi is still sworn in for a rare third term as #India’s prime minister, but it must be sobering for him to have to rely on #coalition partners

Modi’s #BJP won 240 seats, well below 272 needed for a simple majority. Together, the parties in the #NationalDemocraticAlliance #NDA coalition secured 293 seats of 543

⬆️ In #Modi's stronghold, jobs, prices overshadow #Hindu card for voters

Opening of a grand Hindu temple just 3 mo ahead of #India's election was supposed to be a crowning moment for populist PM Modi that would carry his party with a #HinduFirst agenda to a dominant victory.

It didn't work out that way.

Message from voters in Ayodhya #UttarPradesh is that the BJP's pro-Hindu agenda was not enough
