Recent studies have shown that #AcuteMyeloidLeukemia favors #OxPhos metabolism. This #ASH22 abstract from my colleagues demonstrates with in vitro and in vivo models that the use of #ammocidin, an inhibitor of electron transport chain complex V, works synergistically with low-dose #venetoclax to kill #AML cells. Stop by poster 2652 or read more about it here: https://ashpublications.org/blood/article/140/Supplement%201/5959/492144/Electron-Transport-Chain-Complex-V-Inhibition #leukemia #cancer #oncology #hematology #hemonc #science #medicine

One of my lab colleagues will present a #metabolism-heavy study at the upcoming #ASH22 conference: we found that #leukemia can become resistant to BET-inhibition by using #lactate, often thought of as a metabolic byproduct, to keep their metabolism going. We also show that simultaneous BETi and inhibition of lactate-driven metabolism can reduce leukemic engraftment in animal models with both cell lines and primary samples: https://ash.confex.com/ash/2022/webprogram/Paper164701.html #science #medicine #hematology #oncology

Lots of abstracts today! Here's our own abstract to #ASH22. One question in #ClonalHematopoiesis is whether cells with a #muation are more inflammatory at baseline or are simply more reactive to stimuli. Here, we use #CRISPR to knock-in the DNMT3A p.R882H hotspot mutation into hematopoietic stem cells and differentiate into monocytes. #Transcriptome profiling shows that the mutant cells have activated myeloid signatures even without stim: https://ash.confex.com/ash/2022/webprogram/Paper170803.html #Genomics #Hematology #RNAseq
