I ventured to suggest that such fascination might perhaps merit a thorough inspection of my immune system. I can't help but feel that when fascination is involved, there may be scope for a little extra curiosity.

Alas, no. The region has resolved that no one is to be investigated for SID.

(For the record: PID and SID are, in essence, the same affair, except that one arrives at birth. Which is the only version considered deserving of serious investigation and treatment. Apparently.)

Question to anyone familar with #TransHealthcare #Hematology

Is there a relationship between elevated #WBC (#neutrophils, #lymphocytes, #monocytes) & #Platelets, decreased #RBC, #Hemocrit, #Anemia, #Hgb, #mpv and #HRT for male to female #transgender individuals with no other evidence of blood disease, infection or #cancer?

#CTScans are clean, #BoneMarrowBiopsy clean. Doc wants to repeat however.

Not all fevers are due to infection. That's the easy bit though - working out when it's safe to withhold antibiotics, that's way harder.

Can be done (👇) but are there criteria / biomarkers that can guide this better?

One of my lab colleagues will present a #metabolism-heavy study at the upcoming #ASH22 conference: we found that #leukemia can become resistant to BET-inhibition by using #lactate, often thought of as a metabolic byproduct, to keep their metabolism going. Something I find fascinating is how different #germline mutations can affect the risk of acquiring somatic mutations and #cancer. In this recent #hematology paper, the authors found that germline #DDX41 mutations lead to myeloid neoplasia with a different spectrum of somatic mutations.
