  1. Question for the #ActuallyAutistic, especially those with #ASD1 / #ASC1 (#Aspergers).
Do you find it difficult to fall asleep when you're sharing your bed with someone/your partner/etc.?
As my condition has got more pronounced over recent years, I've found myself having to move to the sofa*/spare bed to get to sleep.
I do have insomnia issues anyway/also.
(*It is an incredibly comfortable sofa to sleep on though )

  6. @AutisticAdam @actuallyautistic
Holy shit! That's a thing? One of the constant positives in feedback I've received during my career is my ability to communicate complex issues to non-experts and make sure everyone understands what's happening. I didn't realise that's an #Austism thing.
I'm happy to have a specific thing I can point to as a positive of my #ASD1.

  7. This weekend I learned about object permanence and how people with autism and/or ADHD can have difficulties with it.
And I realise that this, in particular, is what I've been struggling with for the last few years.
It's causing problems with me doing work and particular tasks for work.
It also explains why my approach to friendship has sometimes been different to my friends'.

  8. Hi. I'm theaardvark, known by analogue people as Paul Taylor. I'm new-ish to the Fediverse, on Mastodon for a year at @[email protected] and MetaPixl for a few months at @[email protected]
There seemed to be a decent amount of chat about Calckey and *key on Mastodon, so I created this account to try it.
I'm not sure yet what I'll use this account for. I'm open to suggestions from existing Calckey users as to how they use it alongside other social media.
    I am a
#VAT (tax) manager for an international retailer. In my spare time, I'm a #LabourParty councillor on #Burntwood Town Council and #Lichfield District Council. My politics, which has recently become more important to me, are #CentreLeft, socially #progressive, #woke, #LGBTQI+ #ally with a focus on #LocalGovernment and local issues.
    I have
    #ADHD and #ASD1 (#Autism Spectrum Disorder level 1 / #Aspergers) - diagnosed at age 50, #aphantasia, irregular #depression cycles, type 2 #diabetes and frequent #insomnia. I talk openly about all of these.
    I'm based in the
    #Midlands, #UK.

  9. Old episodes of #MockTheWeek are my safe space. Genuinely. I'm gutted that we are no longer creating more of them.
Being able to spend 30 minutes with an episode really helps me calm my head down.
I guess this is more of an #ASD1 thing than #ADHD.

  10. CW: Autism

#InsideOurAusticMinds has only just started on BBC2 and it's already an incredibly touching and informative programme.
As someone who's new to an autism identification (it's not a diagnosis), ASD1, I'm still using that information to understand myself more.
My autism is on a completely different level to that of the programme's participants but I can see echoes of their experience in my own and it's already helping me to understands.

  11. I'm the same me who's always had issues with doing homework/projects/work at the last minute as a deadline rapidly approaches. I'm the same me that experiences crippling social anxiety until I know or can control how a situation works. None of that is caused by my diagnosis. None of that is going to be changed by my diagnosis. But I can now tell you why I am that person

  12. 8 months later I've come to realise my ADHD/ASD1 diagnosis isn't a "diagnosis". It's a classification, an explanation. It's not an illness I can be cured of, it's a description of who I am.
Medication or therapies might help me deal with some of the more practical issues it causes (focus on tasks, impulse control, depression) but they won't change who I am. I am me. I am the same me I've been since my school teachers called me lazy despite me getting top marks in my exams.

  13. Extra #introduction....
    I realise I haven't mentioned that I post about #MentalHealth issues. I suffer on and off with #depression. I have recently been diagnosed with #ADHD and #ASD1 / #Aspergers / #Level1AutismSpectrumDisorder.
I'm still working out what that "diagnosis" means, but I feel it's more of an explanation and not necessarily a negative thing.
I like to talk openly about it all to normalise doing so for other people, especially men.
