Friday. At last.
I'm on Lichfield Radio for most of the evening, so you're covered from the drive home to the first drink.
5–7pm: the Friday ZOOMY Drivetime Show. Tunes and general nonsense, sponsored by White Lodge.
8–9pm: Friday's Full Spectrum Dance Show. An hour of dance music from right across the spectrum.
No guest tonight. Run a Burntwood or Lichfield group, charity or cause? Message me about a future Friday slot.

Tonight's ZOOMY Drivetime, 5-7pm on Lichfield Radio & Echo. My sister Sarah Taylor's in the studio as my guest, hopefully with her husband Carl too. They've just been named national winners of WellChild's Inspirational Parent Carer Award, for fostering children with complex medical needs since 2014. Off to London Monday to meet Prince Harry.

Today's the day: the first-ever ZOOMY Drivetime, 5-7pm on Lichfield Radio.
Tonight's guest is Barry Diston from Fidget Studios and Fidget Music, plus two hours of drivetime built on deep cuts you haven't heard in years, alongside the tracks you'd expect.
Listen live: https://lichfieldradio.org
The show is sponsored by White Lodge, who also happen to have printed the t-shirt I'm wearing in the photo.

**Big Radio News**
As of this Friday ( tomorrow), I'm a primetime Drivetime DJ on Licihfield Radio. 5–7pm, ZOOMY Drivetime, big tunes and weekend energy. Somehow I convinced them this was a good idea.
For those keeping score: Sunday is chaos, Tuesday is broadcastable chaos, and Friday is, I dunno... "commercial" chaos? Tune in to find out.

Back at it this afternoon, Tuesday 3–4pm on Lichfield Radio, and I couldn't tell you a single track that's going in — it's Tuesday morning and I haven't looked. No theme, no playlist, no running order. Just an hour and whatever takes my fancy when I sit down. Worked every week so far. Join me and we'll find out together what this one turns into.

Something new this week. I've started a section called Boomstick Recommends, which is exactly what it sounds like: somebody else does the hard work of finding the good music and I take the credit for playing it. Two 2026 dance tunes to kick it off, both rather good. The rest of the hour is unplanned as usual, because some traditions are worth keeping. Tuesday 3–4pm on Lichfield Radio.

It's Tuesday, which means it's radio show day on Lichfield Radio. Once again, I have no idea what I'm playing until it's already playing.
No theme, no guest, no safety net, just me and whatever's in the pile marked "sort later". The lack of a plan is the whole appeal, honestly, and it's not going to change now.
Catch me Tuesday 3-4pm and find out along with me.#theaardvark #LichfieldRadio #Lichfield #Burntwood #LocalRadio #EclecticMusic

It's Thursday tomorrow and we're back on Lichfield Radio, 7–9am! This week's theme: songs built on other songs. We're also marking Rein Me In's 15 weeks at number one — only Bryan Adams and Frankie Laine have gone longer. Got a tenuous WhatsApp request? Send it in. Pop Pop Go Matt and theaardvark, live from 7am. Tune in at https://lichfieldradio.org/ 🎙

Snoozy Breakfast has a new sound this Thursday: Pop Pop Go Matt and theaardvark take over, with one rule: every tune links to the last, however tenuously. First theme: "songs that came back". Got a link of your own? Send it our way on WhatsApp.
We're also joined by Darren Rushton from TNT Presents from 8am, talking about acts he brought to this year's Burntwood Wakes.
Thursday 7am to 9am on Lichfield Radio. Tune in at https://lichfieldradio.org/ 🎙

It’s Thursday tomorrow and the Snoozy Breakfast Show is on Lichfield Radio — whether I make it in or not! 🎸
I’m in Cardiff tonight watching The Cure, which means Thursday morning is going to involve a very early train and a prayer to the gods of punctuality. Rockie will be there. Will I? Tune in to find out.

This afternoon on Lichfield Radio: punk, country, rock and dance music, all in one hour. Plus a 30-minute dance mix in the middle because the genre boundaries needed pushing.
On the playlist: The Evolution Control Committee - Hillbilly Beatboxing, AfroTronixX - Ode To Joy, and eSQUIRE - Adagio for Strings. Not a common combination, admittedly.

Tomorrow's show on #LichfieldRadio is going in a different direction.
The last few weeks have been punk, folk, indie.
Tomorrow I'm building a proper #DanceMusic mix: Purple Disco Machine, eSQUIRE, Discotron, and Joman's Roger the Shrubber, which samples Monty Python and is exactly what it sounds like.

Two shows tomorrow.
10am–12pm I'm covering "Love is on The Air" on @lichfieldradio. Two hours of love songs and easy listening with MrsVark. It'll be chill and occasionally soppy. We're fine with that.
Then tomorrow night at 9pm it's the usual theaardvark live Sunday set at live.theaardvark.co.uk — eclectic, loud, no idea what's coming next.
Both circled in the listings. One of those Post-its is not mine.

Tomorrow. 3pm. One hour of music chosen entirely by me, which should worry you.
theaardvark's radio show on #LichfieldRadio. Eclectic. Unfiltered. Arguably professional. Objectively irresponsible.

This week: Sha and Aimee from Burntwood Spoonies, Steve Lightfoot on Burntwood Town Council events, the burning question of what exactly an apron area is and whether it hurts if you bang it, and whether there's more to leading a run than shouting at the runners.

Today, I'm "working from home" from the office at Burntwood Memorial Institute because the Creative Burntwood project has a show on here.
The Great Baldini is performing magic to a sold-out room of families.
Creative Burntwood is one of the things I'm super-proud to be playing a part in. Bringing more creative arts shows and activities to my home town.

I've scanned the war memorial at Burntwood Memorial Institute into #Scaniverse.
I spent a little more time on the filming and I particularly like how you can zoom in on the names and on the collection of painted stones at the back.
