  1. Tie Fighter Simulator: Siente la fuerza en tu AMIGA

    «Tie Fighter Simulator» es un simulador de vuelo hecho en AMOS, que rinde un homenaje nostálgico y desenfadado a la saga Star Wars.

    Iniciado en 2021 por Alberto Sgaggero como un ejercicio personal para revitalizar sus conocimientos de AMOS BASIC en Amiga y tras un periodo de pausa entre 2022 y 2024, el desarrollo se retomó con el objetivo de ser completado y finalmente lanzado en 2025. El resultado es un proyecto deliberadamente «absurdo», tal como lo describe su creador, cuyo propósito principal es celebrar la fusión entre la tecnología retro y la icónica ciencia ficción.

    «Tie Fighter Simulator» se presenta como una demo-game descargable en ADF compatible con emuladores como WinUAE o FS-UAE, así como con hardware AMIGA real. El paquete de descarga incluye además la banda sonora original en formato ProTracker MOD (BCO’s_STAR_WAFERS.mod) y una versión Ogg Vorbis (BCO’s_STAR_WAFERS.ogg) para su disfrute fuera del juego.

    Con instrucciones de juego integradas, «Tie Fighter Simulator» invita a los aficionados de Amiga y de Star Wars a disfrutar de un experimento lúdico que, con su enfoque retro y su humor peculiar, busca dibujar una sonrisa en el rostro de los jugadores.

It works around AMOS's limitations when calling networking functions, providing as smooth an experience as possible for AMOS programs to talk to other computers. You can get it from Aminet or from my code repository. It's been used in the Amiga game AQUABYSS for months now, which helped simplify the networking code greatly in the application.

This series started with a random email I received about a networking library I wrote for AMOS BASIC and released in 1998 before moving on from the Amiga...for a while at least. A game developer was trying to get my library working with their upcoming game, and needed my help. We ended up getting it working, and several Amigas running AMOS BASIC code could chat with each other. I also learned a lot about computer networking at the socket level, too.

    But I wasn't satisfied with a pure AMOS BASIC solution. I wanted an actual AMOS extension. But for that to happen, I'd need to learn a lot more...
