  1. Old abandoned bromine works, Amlwch, north Wales 🏭

The plant was decommissioned and decontaminated in the mid-2000s. Much of the site was demolished soon after, but several interesting buildings still remain. These areas once extracted bromine from seawater.

  6. The #cemetery in #Amlwch has a #gravestone in the form of a #lighthouse. It is for Thomas Cunningham, who had worked on a lighthouse in Shanghai for 30 years. He was originally from Liverpool. It is very detailed, even with an iron ladder up the side to the doorway.

  7. Visited Ludlow's St Peter's church last week, built by the same architect, Giuseppe Rinvolucri, who designed Amlwch's Our Lady Star of the Sea church. Both amazing works of 20th C architecture. Read about the Anglesey church at anglesey-history.co.uk/places/

  12. @dei I love visiting these rocks. I notice something different every time.

For anyone interested in geology, I recommend a visit to the #GeoMôn Geopark visitor centre in #Amlwch. It's tiny but the people there are very knowledgeable and they have a good range of books and leaflets etc.
